Pyro needs military headgear and weapons. That is all.
I never said that. I just said people are free to interpret the character however they please, which they've been doing since before hats came into play with things like gender.
And I dislike it. People don't say that you are "free to interpret Soldier however you please", because he already has existing stereotypes. Pyro is the exact same thing to me, he already has existing stereotypes, people are just very bad at recognizing them. I still think masked serial killers from horror movies are one of his biggest design influences if you look at his role in combat, his personality (aside from the wacky taunts), his choice of weapons, his silhouette, and his sinister and maniac laughing. That's his original 2007 design, coupled with people's fear and disgusting of Pyros in war due to their inhumane and horrible way of killing people.

No, please, lets not get him going again.
if he has wacky VALVE-MADE taunts, why can't he have wacky hats?
He can, and he has too bloody many of them already. It's high time he get some hats that aren't wacky.
Hey. Simski. [sp]The Homewrecker is a very viable and worthwhile weapon.[/sp]
IMO it's not that bad, but I don't use it often enough to be completely worthwhile.

Complete with being being a hated military class for cruelty. I doubt we could get any "promos" from the show, but I suppose one could watch the show in order to get an idea of that "side" of the pyro stereotype. With that said, I do think the kinds of insanity they each suffer from (PS Pyro and TF2 Pyro) are quite different at their core, at least if we count MtP as "canon". If we embrace MtP then things like the beanie fit fine, although you could also argue that the Pyro could wear someones lung/other organ on his head as a hat, but see it as a flower hat. Either way, IMHO, Pyro has the best excuse for random silly hats. Something about a guy/girl wearing a plunger on their head like a hat while maniacally laughing and burning people to death just works. Much less so with the other classes.
Even so, we have TONS of just that type of wacky crazy items already. It's getting really uncreative, boring, and annoying to see the same vague stereotype done over and over and over. So I want more of serious Pyro now, because wacky Pyro is over represented.
I wouldn't mind randumb hats if they weren't so overly flamboyant at times. I mean I love my Attendant and Rubber Glove pretty much equally, but I'm not a big fan of things like the boot or the plunger.
If we look at Meet the Pyro, then the parts that isn't Pyroland is the exact type of Pyro I think he was originally designed to be. A faceless sympathetically devoid monster of a man doing so horrible things that even his teammates are afraid of him. However as proved by his original taunts, him still being able to be a nice and childish was also a part of him. So I don't completely hate Pyro being represented as wacky, because part of him is. I'm just sick and tired of it being the only thing he's represented as, when it's only a small part of his personality.

Ugh, is it Halloween yet? I can't friggin' wait
Around the time Meet the Pyro came out, someone on SPUF started talking about how the whole thing reminded him of MKUltra. Ever since then, I've always had the personal idea that Pyro is a flowerchild, twisted by shadowy agencies and forced to kill. I keep meaning to sketch out some concept art for a burnt-out flowerchild Pyro set, but I've never gotten around to it. Maybe I should take another crack at it.
When in doubt, fosters facade and flamboyant flamenco. I'm an evil burning maniac, who likes to get his 'Ariba' on.
When in doubt, fosters facade and flamboyant flamenco. I'm an evil burning maniac, who likes to get his 'Ariba' on.
I like wearing the facade with the Attendant, it just feels all 1920's.
I like using the brigade helmet and license to maim, and bring new definition to the word "firefighter".
does anyone have any ideas for what the halloween boss will be this year?
My guess is waves of Engineer's ghost right hand in MvM
Mann Vs. Hand.
that, or engineer's ghost right hand is a balloonicorn type unlockable cosmetic
My guess is some kind of spooky MvM equivalent. Like how there's plain ol' Harvest and Harvest_event, maybe there'll be Halloween versions of the MvM maps, complete with Robots wearing the Costumes from last year. And there's probably gonna be a boss, I would like to bring up my idea of Gray taking Redmond and Blutarch's brains, putting them in a giant mech, and sending this monstrosity to fight the mercs, after they so soundly trounced his first attempts to kill everything with robots. Either that or a MvM equivalent where the robots are zombies led by the reanimated corpse of the Director, back from the grave to stop the Second Annual Saxxy Awards.
Engineer's hand is too obvious. If we've guessed it already, then it's going to be mediocre. Remember what happened with Meet the Pyro?
The pyro is and forever will be anyone, anything, any stereotype. Hell thanks to the ballonicorn suddenly he was a brony..... Edit: by "suddenly" I mean that the Brony subcommunity of TF2 immediately deemed him one.
The pyro is and forever will be anyone, anything, any stereotype. Hell thanks to the ballonicorn suddenly he was a brony.....
No, he was never ever a brony. Anyone who actually thinks this is an idiot.

Mostly I think it was the anti-bronies that dubbed him one. Tilting at windmills, them.
