I can already sense at least a 1 GB size increase of the game's total size with news of that new compiler thing.
This is a problem to me; sure, I don't need the space, but there are people who do. One of the major things the team has to do is make the game more optimized; wasn't one of the things added in MvM is a remake of ALL the lines, without even using the specific voice converter? This is stuff we should focus on next year, not much else (hats, miscs, and weapons are nice, though).
Still waiting for Valve to change the Unusual Horseless Headless Horsemann's Headtaker's name to the Haunted Horseless Headless Horsemann's Headtaker. Try saying that three times fast.

But, as we all know:
bool logic; bool ideaAccept; int rageLevelPerc; if (logic == true) { ideaAccept = false; } if (ideaAccept == false) { rageLevelPerc = 100; } else { rageLevelPerc = 5; }
I just felt the need to turn Valve formula into coding.
It takes 2-3 minutes for TF2 to start up, and 1-2 minutes to load a map and join a server. Now, I mean, it's not like 2 minutes of waiting is horrible, but every other multiplayer game I've played has far less boot and load time.

Valve has you thinking that optimization is a luxury rather than a necessity.

I guess I'm just lucky, and that I don't have many mods. Still, I'm trying to look out for people that load as long or longer than you.
i don't think that they will add weapons.. manniversary, halloween or christmas. these stuff are hard to balance and spuf 'masters' go crazy. when they add a perfectly balanced weapon, spuf 'masters' call it op.
Halloween has never added unique weapons before, Manniversary in and of itself only added the sign post, unlike Mannconomy. Christmas is heavily dedicated to weapons, because those sell a lot around Christmas when all the kiddies get money for Steam (plus they don't release many weapons in the Fall Season.)
HHH's axe
That's a reskin. Better example would be the Sticky Jumper.
I don't know why anyone gets excited over optimization updates; they add nothing novel or fun to the game. Making the game playable is surely a novel and fun feature right?
Defrag your game files.
After every mod I install and every update I defrag my files
They add the feature "playing with reduced hl2.exe has stopped working errors." Making the game playable is surely a novel and fun feature right?
Negative. Like I said, it's a necessity, not a luxury.
I can already sense at least a 1 GB size increase of the game's total size with news of that new compiler thing.
seriously, if they used a filter for robo-voices rather than copying every single voice line over again, it would cut like half a gig out.
seriously, if they used a filter for robo-voices rather than copying every single voice line over again, it would cut like half a gig out.
Is it laziness, or did they not think of it?
Is it laziness, or did they not think of it?
I guarantee you it's the latter, and even then, I made a goddamn attribute class list, explaining in-depth on every workable attribute classes. They could just adjust the special_dsp attribute to work on death, and then apply a new DSP filter. ...But on the other hand, we wouldn't have the robot voice clips for Source Filmmaker.
Is it laziness, or did they not think of it?
It's because they don't have Ned. They need to hire Ned.
seriously, if they used a filter for robo-voices rather than copying every single voice line over again, it would cut like half a gig out.
I'm glad this is someone else is still wondering about this. There needs to be an interview to get the lowdown behind this, the lack of gamemode voicelines, the commented-out, yet perfectly working jarate-bot (the file says there's no animation, but it's there), and all the other inexplicable stuff. e: it's neither laziness nor absent-mindedness. they took the time to make the other dsp preset, there's no possible way this didn't occur to them, even if they already started manually filtering them before last halloween. It's like someone using a bucket to deliver sand one grain at a time.
the last time I looked at the dsps to edit them I literally said "holy shit"
e e: oh again! i originally thought i was mistaken, but yeah ned confirming it is making me think they edited it. Right now I only spot a single, typical sort of warning.
I forget exactly, but isn't the dsp preset covered in alarming "oh god oh god don't touch anything or you'll blow us all sky high" messages? I think it was simultaneously terrifying and hilarious
Oh absolutely. And it makes it all the more interesting to try and edit. However, until MvM editing it didn't actually work. Now it works! Someone I know tried doing a lower pitch filter for Heavy's Frankenstein's monster set and it worked and sounded great
Anything on the Mystery Promo yet?
The Valve Store has Scout and Pyro plushes. No codes for them, but in case anyone wants one, there are your links.
I hope they release blu ones as well. Since that means I can play tf2 when I'm not playing tf2.
I love how votes on the Workshop are still meaningless.
that pyro plushie is just so adorable <3 !
I don't remember what page it was exactly, but someone explained how it was good in the emporium thread. From what I understand, they currently have one guy checking three good workshop items a day and seeing if the files can easily be accepted in game, but with the compiler, they can check around 200 items a day, possibly leading to updates with more items (unfortunately, most of which will be hats or miscs if what testinglol said was right).
Yeah, Ayesdef from his tour to Valve. It makes me really worried, since it well explains the randomness in the accepted items. The items that gets in the game could be very biased to his personal tastes and interpretation of the artstyle. I really wish they'd have more people picking out things from the workshop.
"Arm Tattoos" and "Shirt" for Heavy and Scout have to be altered. "Arm Tattoos" can be the Champ Stamp and Soviet Stitch-Up, while the "Shirt" for Heavy and Scout can be renamed "Shirt Accessories", that has Apparatchik's Apparel, Fast Learner and the Track Terrorizer. Both of these equip regions conflict eachother, so that Valve can be happy. "Belt" for Engie and Demo and "Hip" for Heavy and Medic can be easily combined into "Hip", right? "Pocket" for Heavy, Medic's "Pocket" and "Pocket" for Sniper and Engie equip region to make "Pocket". Medic's "Gloves" can be combined with "Arms". Scout's "Backpack" could be combined with "Back". Soldier's "Cigar" could be combined with Medic's "Pipe" to make "Smoking Device", so that Spy's cigarette, the Intangible Ascot's pipe, Outback Intellectual's pipe, Bearded Bombardier's pipe, the Bubble Pipe, the Marxman's "Yes, Cigar" style* and the Mutton Chops' Pipe are in it. Engie's "Wings" could be combined with Pyro's "Wings" into "Wings". Sniper's "Legs" can be combined with Engie's "Pantaloni" into "Legs". "Medigun Accessories" and "Medigun Backpack" could be combined to become "Medigun Addons". A new equip region called "Mask" is made. It conflicts with "Beard" and "Smoking Device" (unless the item has that equip region). It includes the Anger, the Doublecross-Comm, Physician's Procedure Mask, Villain's Veil, the War Pig's "Conspicuous" style* and the Intangible Ascot. A new equip region called "Feet Accessories" is made. It includes the Sneaky Spats of Sneaking and the Prairie Heel Biters (which can now be worn with the Teufort Tooth Kickers or, if you want to be silly, with the Legend of Bugfoot) A new equip region called "Ring" is made for the Special Something for Special Someone. *And we can forget the idea of having styles have the ability to have seperate equip regions on that style. If it was implemented, items like the Liquor Locker would with them new equip regions. If we look at the Liqour Locker, it will bring three new equip regions. One equip region "Hip" will be split in half as a result, causing the birth of "Left Hip" (which will only include the Wingstick together with that style for the LL) and "Right Hip" (where every other "Hip" items goes to, together with that style for the LL). The last one will be "Front", which will only include that style at the moment. Also, certain items just don't fit the current region they are in, like the Toss-Proof Towel (currently in "Shirt", should be in "Necklace") and the Spiral Sallet (currently in "Face", should be in "Ears" like the Nanobalaclava and War Head) and certain items aren't in certain regions, like the Quadwrangler (currently in "Arm", which should also be in "Shirt" and "Necklace") or the Liquidator's Lid (currently in "Hat", which should also be in "Glasses"). Body groups are something Valve currently isn't doing much with in TF2, as they are going to do body groups in TF2 kinda like how they do them in Dota 2. But there are plenty of unneeded body groups, like the "Medal" bodygroup for Soldier, which could be easily replaced with a "Glasses" bodygroup for both Sniper and Medic. And last, but not least, the idea of having three cosmetics slots instead of one hat slot and two misc slots. If this change ever happens, it would have a big impact on TF2's equip regions. Equip regions that will happen when this change happens are: "Hair": Baseball Bill's Sports Shine*, Hero's Tail, Front Runner, Void Monk Hair, Crafty Hair, Battle Bob*, Demoman's Fro, Hair of the Dog, Hound Dog, Cadaver's Cranium, Coupe D'isaster, Dread Knot, Gym Rat, One-Man Army, Texas Slim's Dome Shine*, Big Country*‎, Professor's Peculiarity*, Pencil Pusher*, Geisha Boy, Einstein, Ritzy Rick's Hair Fixative*, Your Worst Nightmare, Magistrate's Mullet, Lord Cockswain's Novelty Mutton Chops and Pipe*, Brainiac Hairpiece* "Stock Accessories" (also works with the "Tuned In" style from the Bonk Boy, the "With Helmet" style from the Battle Bob, the "Brooks" style for the Big Country‎, the "Tamed" style for the Professor's Peculiarity, the Robot Running Man, Tin Pot, Tin-1000 and the Bolted Bushman): Batter's Helmet, Soldier's Stash, Exquisite Rack, Mining Light, Industrial Festivizer and the Trophy Belt "Helmet Addons": Lucky Shot And others I can't think of right now! *Can be worn with other hats
Another variation of my "equip region" idea. Mainly inspired by this. Also, I'd like feedback to my idea and what I could do to improve it.
Best hats from Mann-conomy
That's easy for you to say, you're a sodding talking dapper topper yourself!
