So the Total War items are going into the store? Sweet.
I can see it clearly.
A bundle of all the items (non-genuine and uncraftable) costing more than the complete Total War collection.

So the discount is over, but the promo items are still displayed on the Master Collection page. So now it appears you still buy the Genuine items, but you'll have to pay up more then the cost of the diamond ring. Seems fair since you get the games along with it...

I think they may have just forgot to remove it. The deal's only been down 15 minutes

But I liked the idea of yoldeling around with a melee reskin that screams that you forked up to buy the most expensive item yet, on addition it's a golden eagle attached to a busted pole. People are bound to notice it and question about it, especially if you whack them with it.
My prediction for Halloween this year:
MVM themed Halloween.
[sp]The new items will only be obtainable by Mann Up players.[/sp]
Does anyone like my Freedom Staff?

use the workaround
Thank lord. They lowered the price down on the Master Collection and they still haven't removed the promo item advertisement, suggesting that yes, the items will most likely stay. Though the overall price is still more then the diamond ring, but not by much. Which means that the Freedom staff will now be a much better useless item then the diamond ring ever was. 80% more noticable, 30% more shiny and comes with the addition of several other beautiful items.
There is still hope for those who have dreamt of wondering around the field with a majestic golden eagle, a fine silk cape and some wierd chin strap. I might actually buy the pack now.
other than the aperture lab hat, and the robo-sandvich are there any other items that are in genuine only?
Robo chicken hat.

They should give it to people who own all the games. I couldn't even buy that pack if I wanted to.

Perhaps if they had followed the same method Killing Floor rewarded their promos, in which people who actually bought the game because they wanted to play it and not for some tacked on virtual merchendise, were rewarded with Vintage quality of said virtual merchendise. Then again, knowing the chaos that went on when handing the new promo items out went, there's no telling what could of gone wrong.

I was thinking the same thing, I still have some faith in Valve though. That'd be terrible.
All of the past Halloween items have been open to the Scouting masses, and those with a spare $15 per hat, twice. It's not likely that they'd make this years gifts payment only, not after the backlash they got for Mann Up.

That guy who said the rewards would me Mann Up only is probably right.
That would cover up the "Something horrible" slot from my bingo at least
The fact that Mann Up got backlash wasn't important was it? People still bought the tickets. I think it was really just mass confusion and hysteria because people thought they would have to pay to play for a new mode that was 2 years in the making.
The important thing is that TF2 has to make money in some way with these new updates, because it is now F2P.
I forsee some crates, considering that they seem to be going for a community update this year. Maybe they will do something like the RoBro though, but that was sort of themed. We'll have to see.

Mann Up still segregates players between those who have tickets and those who do not.
Bunch of friends getting an MvM get-together going? Sweet, count me in. Oh, you guys all are using tickets, I guess I'll sit it out.
Even though those players can still all play without their tickets in order to play boot camp advanced missions with no reward, it still separates players based on that possession of tickets. "Separate but equal" does not fly too well.
Prediction: Everyone who doesn't pay will get the gibus 3.0 and the new boss hat.
Mann Up players will get the new cosmetics as rewards for playing.
Also two types of crates and two types of keys again.
"trick" crate and "treat" crates likely.
Ebenezer and Holiday Headcase are community-made. Look at how those are droppable/craftable/buyable

Yes, yes. Weapon to hat comparison. But still, don't take it for granted just because it's a weapon.
Speaking of the Ebenezer, that's one classy hat. Luv it.

what workaround
what workaround
Bypass the filters on the decal tools in order to use what is effectively what painterly was before it was removed from access.

how do you do it?
how do you do it?
Check last page of the Decals Thread, there's a vid which explains it.
So after some discussion with Maruhai, we figured out that this:
http://tf2b.com/tf2/item/76561198003161689/872437519
is the result of clicking "No" when receiving Something Special From Someone Special.
except when clicking "No", the item deletes itself.
But this item is not excluded from the Mann Co Package drop list, thus you can unbox it. Since you never clicked "No", it never deleted itself.
The "action item" ring ID is 5074, the actual misc is 5075, and this is 699. Basically, Valve created a dummy item. This is reinforced by the fact that its ID does not follow the others, and is placed right before the Lucky Shot added in the same update (I believe). The result of lazyness, after all it was never meant to exist.
ladies and gentlemen, the dummy "Missingn0" item of TF2
I'me the one who figured everything out, you literally only backed up my theory with the schema twice. :v:
ladies and gentlemen, the dummy "Missingn0" item of TF2
But wait, you don't talk to Redmond at the north of Kong King, allow him to demonstrate how to catch a Spy, then immediately change maps to Teufort, swim up and down along the east side of the bridge to find the Missingno. item, all while having your name's end-name marker at the third, fifth, or seventh letter that is either G, H, J, M, S, T, ;, a, b, c, m, o, p, or v! That's nonsense!
What do you mean? I'm pretty sure that ring was just an accident, I talked with the owner about it actually a while ago.
The owner got it via the Mann Co Package because Valve didn't remove it from the list of possible drops, and they didn't because it's just a dummy that has two piece of informations:
One is to create itself when somebody unwraps a ring.
And the other is to delete itself after the player clicks on either yes or no, and if yes, to create the misc item.
He got it in a different way tho (the Mann Co Package), which means neither of the two strings can be activated.
So it's just a collector item, and in fact, a dummy that has no purpose.
if he got it via the package, it would say it was from the package. It says it's support granted, which I'm inclined to believe, given it's odd circumstances.
ned, you'll probably want to request dibs for the next thread as we're 300 posts away from the autolock (which it looks like we'll finally be able to achieve for the longest time).
