I didn't mean it like that. I know the mode is FREE. I'm just saying these tour-tickets are another way for Valve to make money. They weren't essential. Valve could've gone without them.
Yeah man fuck Valve how dare they try to make some money out of this huge free update
I've yet to see pictures of the new hats I would like to see them.
Most if not all are on Bounty page, you can also see them on the wiki.
Okay... SOMEONE explain this shit to me. So... EVERY TIME I want to play the fucking co-op on the servers that DON'T take a half-hour to connect before failing and kicking your ass back to the menu, I have to pay a dollar for a ticket?? Is that REALLY what's going on here? Every time I play a match, I have to fork over a dollar? Because if THAT is the case, then I am horrified to me fucking core! I would expect that kind of horseshit from EA, but not VALVE, goddamnit!
That is not the case, at all, the ticket only gives you a guaranteed item drop at the end of each successful mission, and it only resets when you finish it successfully. It changes nothing when it comes to queue time.

Valve could've gone without them.
Also: $4. Really? THAT'S a problem for you? If this update was coming from any other company, this would be a $15+ DLC. But no, we get a free game changing update, with optional modes with tickets that cost 99 fucking cents, and half the fucking community throws a bitch fit. There are TONS of times when Facepunchers have chewed out people and communities of other games for being too self-entitled, when we didn't realize that a good chunk of FPers are in fact those self-entitled pricks.
I wait 30 minutes, finally starts connecting, then gives me a message "Failure to connect after 4 tries" That's happened to me 3 times so far god damn it.
If you've yet to be able to play -Blu bots is really annoying. That irks me. +THIS GAMEMODE IS SO GODDAMN FUN -Pyro and Spy are useless pretty much +IT'S JUST SO FUN THOUGH
Pyro is useless? Have you ever tried airblasting the bomb carrier? He's objectively one of the most indispensable classes on harder waves with scouts.
Yeah man fuck Valve how dare they try to make some money out of this huge free update
You're not getting my point. Valve is a great fucking company, really great. I don't mind that there's ways for them to make money with the game, but I just think TF2 itself is already a big money-making machine with the store itself. I just didn't think it was necessary for them to make tickets like that.
But it's 99 cents per round
And henceforth Mann Up mode shall be known as Pay Up Mode.
self-entitled
jesus christ stop using this fucking flavor of the year word people dont like the cash grab optional or not people who dont like the entire update because of said cash grab are foolish, but that doesn't excuse you from using the easiest shame on you technique known to mankind (aka you're immature/entitled) on them just fucking ignore them [editline]2[/editline] or put some thought into your post instead of parroting what many before you have said think of the children
The mode IS FREE. I just played for 2 hours straight, got my canteen, got a bunch of standard item drops, and had the most fun I've had with TF2 in a long time. You people are starting to piss me off.
I think the core behind the complaints is this: Free experience - "Man, I just beat a tough as fucking hell onslaught of robots with five of my buddies!" Leads to Pay for some tickets and do the exact same thing - "Man, I just beat a tough as fucking hell onslaught of robots with five of my buddies!" Goodies rain upon you and your buddies! Valve could have at least made the loot there by default (on Valve servers only, of course) and replace the tickets with directly buying the shit.
But it's 99 cents per round
Isn't this a better key? with keys, which cost more, you have a chance to get a common item, a rare hat, or an extremely rare hat, with these, you're guaranteed to get a rare hat.
Pyro is useless? Have you ever tried airblasting the bomb carrier? He's objectively one of the most indispensable classes on harder waves with scouts.
Pyro can solo the shit out of those waves with just the +25 hp on kill with the Flamethrower.

But I'm going to shut up now, maybe I've overreacted a little, that's my bad. You guys have a valid point, if you look at it from another angle you'll probably see that even with $10 we'd gotten a nice deal on this. [editline]16th August 2012[/editline]
But it's 99 cents per round
No, as far as I've read, it's 99 cents per round in a map that you haven't played yet.
You only lose it once you complete a mission that you've never completed before. So with the current amount of missions (3), you buy 4 tickets (3 to do them all, and 1 to play all of the again), because the 4th won't be used up ever. Bad Reading, baby.
that's a relief! thanks for the info
-snip- everyone calmed down hooray
But it's 99 cents per round
Wrong. It's 99 cents for a ticket, which goes towards one(1) mission. Currently, a mission consists of 2 maps, and there are 3 missions so far. The ticket is only used up if you complete a mission that you've never completed before. Play it again, or disconnect/crash halfway through, you've got your ticket still. So, this means that with three (3) tickets, you can complete all the missions, and with a 4th, you can keep playing them for the lovely rare loot. Or, you know, You could play it normally, on another server, map by map, where the only difference is that your stats aren't getting tracked, and you're not getting fancy robo goodies, only normal goodies.
So far I was only able to play about half a full game. These lobbies are very unstable and the wait time can't seem to make up its mind. However, for the time I did play it was pretty fun. Just hope they can fix these bugs soon, then I will be very happy.

I want to ask everyone buying the Archimedes plush do you actually want it or do you want the hat it comes with cauuuuse Archie's kinda just a white bird

And, I apologize if I seem to be parroting other people, but in fact, my words are my own, as are the words of the other people I seem to have parroted. Maybe we're all saying the same thing because it's what's fucking happening, and we all realize it.
Talking more gameplay wise, I find those Rapid-Fire Demoman giants to be a little too tough, anyone else have trouble with them?
I don't think you keep getting rare goodies if a ticket isn't consumed.
You might be right about this one, I don't know for sure. But you can keep doing the missions. [editline]16th August 2012[/editline]
Talking more gameplay wise, I find those Rapid-Fire Demoman giants to be a little too tough, anyone else have trouble with them?
I was forced to buy explosive resistance just because of them, after we failed the wave twice. But still, the most useful thing is a jarate sniper. Get the movement speed decrease, and decrease the cooldown time, and you've got a piss spamming sniper that slows down EVERYONE. Except for the Tank. That damn thing.
I do have a fair bit of modeling done, but the only explicitly robotic thing I've got is just a rough model draft. But yeah, Valve fair and square beat me to the punch, no fucking way I'd be able to hold my ground against Valve of all people. Ah well, better keep working and hope I can keep things different enough to avoid getting sued! :v:
As long as you do not explicitly copy the class structure that TF2 bears, you should be completely fine with having 2 teams working together against robotic masses. Even if you have classes, just don't be a dummy by copying the 9 that Valve established (although it is a very well-rounded cast that covers almost everything that can be done in an FPS, it's kinda hard not to take some inspiration from them) Really, humans v robots has been around for decades. No one's going to patronize you for pitting humans against a swarm of robots. If anything, it's a tad unoriginal just because robots have been done over and over since movies were in black and white but that's beside the point. If you pull it off right, you shouldn't have any problem.
MvM is a lot of fun, I've been trying out item sets and the "Kritz can" goes with everything.
Man, sniper with fully upgraded reload, damage, and charge time is absolutely insane.
Talking more gameplay wise, I find those Rapid-Fire Demoman giants to be a little too tough, anyone else have trouble with them?
Gigants octo-heavies are the worse. Also the spy need alot of buffs.
Gigants octo-heavies are the worse.
Oh man when I first saw one of those I knew we were boned. Luckily our Scout was really good and was able to pick off the medics.
This is why I was horrified when F2P came out. Sure I was glad that a lot more players could come, but I knew shit like this would happen. The community would get their panties in a wad every update, and Valve would bar off some content to non paying users. Sure, this one is insignificant, I just hope all the other pay to access parts of updates are like this, and not extreme. ps: this mode is really fun
What content are you really missing out on though? You don't get hats? boo-hoo.
