Were people angry at the lack of weapons?
People are angry because they can't play a gamemode which effectively quintupled the userbase (plus all the people who started playing for the update) right goddamn now.
So ned what do you think of the update?
It'll probably get added in later. Probably. [editline]16th August 2012[/editline] I'm gonna guess something didn't work out at the last minute. Here's hoping Valve fixes it!
Who am I kidding

You mean the way they fixed the Pomson?
also community splitting tickets and "premium" Valve servers which is rubbing a few people the wrong way (aka me)
Given that the only non-cosmetic difference between the servers is availability, I don't really see the problem. No, the campaigns don't autoswitch. You have to do that on your own, just like in a community server. And I've heard that the queue for mann up is awful as well.
So ned what do you think of the update?
I haven't gotten a chance to play it yet, but it looks fun. The cosmetics are cool, Archimedes is a great misc, and the cigar and robro are cool too. I've watched some videos, it seems really hard, but really fun. However, this MannUp mode stuff is kind of making me disappointed. It's splitting up the community in a way I never would have imagined Valve doing. There should never be an officially sanctioned premium mode in TF2, that's just not at all the point of updates, and it didn't need to happen with weapons and hat sales not slowing down at all. Like rather than light the community on fire and rub a lot of people the wrong way, they could of just added a dozen hats and made basically the same money and everyone would have been happy.
Did valve make any statement on what they're gonna do? (keep the system they have now, or change it, or?)
I only care about the BLU bots its not that hard to color them gray

That's not a choice I've ever had to make in TF2, and it's making me really sad that now I have to.
Oh man, they wear the Canteens!

I dunno. Maybe I'm not angry because I'm not used to actually playing new games mode for a week anyways.
The .res file isn't what applies the .pop files.

Maybe I'm not angry because I'm not used to actually playing new games mode for a week anyways.
Well last night I had a group of 2 friends and a group of 3 friends. We all could, in theory, play together. But 3 of us (and me) wanted to try MannUp mode. The other 2 did not want to buy tickets. In theory we could have been on the same map, doing the same things, and yet we were forced not to play together. We ended up not playing at all (the four MannUp people) because the servers are dead, but still, the anecdote (which is actually true), still holds. We all wanted to play together, on the same map, and do the same things, but there was this artificial hurdle we had to get over that other people just couldn't get over because of financial costs.
item server down for anyone else?
Here is a download for TF2 client/dedicated servers (maybe) that increases the sizes of ALL giants (including sentrybuster and the robo-fist-giants) https://dl.dropbox.com/u/7737298/Other/scripts.zip I think it should work in dedicated servers, they should have the same folder structure, right? Clients themselves should not need any modfication.
Man, those supergiants would be great for a city map. No big obstructions for giants so they won't have hitbox problems.
Meh. I don't care that cosmetic items are exclusive, I mean it is F2P so why should anybody care? Oh you want a robot skull? Then pay 99 cents!
are the robot weapons and items tradeable?
Does anyone happen to know what the brush entity for upgrade stations is called? I'm working on a test map for upgrades in normal maps. NEVERMIND, it's simply func_upgradestation
Are there even red robot counterparts to the blu? I'd REALLY like to have a pvp escort bomb missions with tanks and junk.
WAIT v_medigun might be set up for hose attachments now because of the keychain thing. Oh man. I'll have to see if I can fix the Kritzkreig.
So...there is no sixth canteen? This is incredibly fun. I'm still disapointed of the size of the maps, the size of the giants and that there's no BLU team for some reason, but apparently the last two can be fixed. Let's just hope Valve will listen. Honestly, Mann Up mode is not that of a big deal. Al it does is give you items if you win a round. It's as if you bought something from the store, you just need to earn it. It offers no gameplay difference, does it? Also I've never seen any Special Demoknight or Special Sniper Huntsman/Sydney Sleeper. I've read that mvm_mannworks.txt posted earlier, and apparently waves are pre-defined, which isn't very good.
Quick question, does anybody know if it is possible to change the mission played on custom/private servers?
Are there even red robot counterparts to the blu? I'd REALLY like to have a pvp escort bomb missions with tanks and junk.
There are red robots, no red carriers, not sure about tank... yeah, no red tank.
as far as a sixth canteen, there's attributes for, and a new model for, the Bear Trap grenade. So grenades might have been the 6th canteen and they held it back.

Fuck me I've been waiting for more than an hour to join a game and now the server thing just crashed and I gotta start over.
Oh also, I really just noticed But there isn't any Engineer bot at all. Although there is a robot hat for the Engi. I don't quite get that
