I'd like to do that for some of my TF2 achievements, but I've heard reports of people getting VAC bans for it. Although it's probably unlikely, especially if you aren't connected to a VAC secured server, the download page for SAM even includes a warning that says you are risking a VAC ban by downloading this tool.

From what I've read on the site, the VAC ban warning is for user error. Something like their tool being 99.99% non-VAC bannable. The 0.01% being that one guy who's a complete idiot and somehow does something incredibly wrong. I'm still leery about it myself, however.
