I actually got told why it was delayed (apparantly Hurricane Sandy had something to do with it) and they apologised. I said it was perfectly okay.
And it is. A blessing in disguise, if anything. Now i don't need to worry about this weekend, seeing as i'm out of the house the same time the original delivery date was.

For some reason australian postage has a really clean and honest standard. People generally don't steal shit from doorsteps, even though half the time when someone can't deliver a package they return it to the post office and give you a letter to pick it up. Not only that, but I've heard of people who have postmen who leave stuff under a front bench/doormat if it's small/garden/behind wheelie bins, if they know the person knows that stuff is left there.

Yeah, it's actually pretty surprising how mail never gets stolen.
I live opposite the most bogan school in my city, full of derros, and we've had packages sit on the front doorstep for six hours and never get stolen.
