If I want that kind of game, of course. Look at Dead rising and L4D, they tell you what they are without gimmicks but using that kind of trailers, they just build void hype.

i thought it got positive reviews, and the friends who got one of the cd keys from that big leak seem to have enjoyed it

Nah. I love all my SMT bros, Persona and Mainline SMT alike. I
think its because Persona is alot "easier" I guess. But I just happen to like SMT alot more.
And I recommend you to go with Nocturne. Shit is amazing once you get the system down.
