Golden Retrievers are amazing to have. I find smaller breeds easier to take care of, and fun to carry too. Larger breeds seem to be the most difficult to care. At least from what I saw with my friends golden retriever.

My dog's a badass too. She's a Silky Terrier, and in her younger days she would often jump and catch birds in mid-air, decapitating them with a single bite.
Of course, now she's about 16, but still pretty tough. Mum accidentally ran over one of her paws the other day because she (the dog) is blind and deaf so she didn't know the car was coming, and man, she just walked that shit off. Did not even give a fuck. I reckon the fact she managed to get so old in the first place is because Death's too afraid to try and take her.

Near the end of the summer, we had a lady pull up our driveway and ask if we had a German Shepherd, as there was one lying on the side of the road.
She got hit by a car, and died with my whole family, and the neighbors sitting right next to her.
She was the best dog I ever had, and I miss her.
My neighbor would always jokingly say things like "You can have her" and "Feel free to take her home" when we'd be playing.
Actually, I knew she was serious.[/sub]
