WoC and Nitro Kart tried too hard to be like their predecessors instead of introducing new and fun mechanics.
WoC just felt like Warped with a lot of things either dumbed down (Aku Aku stays even after you start a time trial, for example) or things more clunky than Warped did them (the Wumpa Cannon's controls being 3d-directional instead of 2d-directional, hanging from overhangs takes forever to traverse compared to Warped, etc). Nitro Kart introduced a few new weapons and had the riding on walls and ceilings thing going, but other than that it felt like CTR but more slippery.
Twinsanity is incredible and it's a damn shame that so much content got cut out because the developers were pressured to just finish it.
Tag Team Racing was fun to play, but that's where the definitions of characters started to go south. Crunch became a Mr. T parody, N. Gin became a schizophrenic crossdresser, Coco became more like an annoying brat than a preteen braniac, and Cortex seemed more like a complete buffoon than an evil mastermind.
The franchise is dead to me. I just revel in my nostaliga of when the games were good before Universal sold the rights to the franchise to someone else.
