Major Update Speculation V5: Somewhere over the rainbow

I want them to make more items auto equip Pyroland and reskin the "normal" version to something else.
For example:
Scout's Candy cane.
Reskin it to a Tire iron for the normal world. But in Pyroland, it is a candy cane.
The stat about being more dead by explosives suddenly makes sense, he's so insane and giddy in candyland, he's less afraid of bombs.
Actually, the Candycane is the only weapon I have an issue with, the rest at least make sense.
Maybe this Halloween they could make a new one called Scaryland and make it so you can equip Halloween items year round, but it enables Scaryland and is invisible to other players not wearing Halloween items. Maybe even include Gibus.
This way people can wear whatever they want and not force people to view their demon masks and Bug costumes unless they want to.

I like the way you think.

Another reason I'd want a "select vision" feature would be that it could prevent items conflicting if you'd be wearing both an item that gives you Pyro vision and an item that gives you Halloween vision.

Halloween vision? What did i miss?

Wishful thinking, sadly :v:

No no, he is the artstyle knight. Fighter of the unfitting paint, paladin against whimsical and silly hats.

how do you change styles?
I sent an email to Valve suggesting they implement a feature like this when selecting any item that changes your vision
[t]http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l189/Simski_2006/Pyrolandselection.png[/t]
Then again, it is uncertain if they'll ever read my email or even consider suggestions for game features :(
Yeah, i love the lollichop and rainblower taunt, but don't like the whole "pyroland" thing that much, it was cool for the first 30 minutes.
About those unused Special Delivery lines...
I think they recorded those so they can be used on a custom map that isn't centered specifically around Doomsday. The Australium case/device lines could work in pretty much every map that doesn't contain the map-specific assets (monkey, rocket).
how do you change styles?
Select an item in your backpack and hit "Set style"

I thought Doomsday was going to be like the TF2 version of Crossfire the first time I heard the rocket lifting off.

Pyrovision makes me lag on Goldrush. Means I can't use the Lollichop and Rainblower on the map.

Was there ever a TF2-ified remake of this map? It would've been awesome.
getting rid of pyrovision on the items
1. Is undermining the "point" of the items, being items from Pyro's perspective and his imagination.
2. What's the point of using the items if you can't even see them?
3. the current style system doesn't accept attributes and Pyroland vision is an attribute.
It's something I don't want at all. If you want to wear the items you get what comes with them. I like the way the Quick-Fix looks, but I wouldn't call for it to have a style where it's a reskin of the Medigun just because I like the way it looks. Pyroland is the gimmick of those items, the selling point. Without Pyroland, the Lollichop and Rainblower are just generic reskins with fancy taunts
Pyroland makes me lag on occasion, but it's tolerable lag.
The weapons are worth making everything become pink and fluffy.

And I still want to be able to use the Dr. Gogglestache all year round. It's probably my favorite Medic misc.
Whoa. Never seen that before.
Fan made recreations based on those blurry photographs or the real deal?

I like how the new taunts on the weapons look outside of Pyrovision. I wish I could see myself using them in the normal world, the same way other people can see me using them.
I don't see why having the ability to turn off Pyrovision while wearing those items myself would be such a bad thing. Both the taunts and the Pyroland is the selling point, and I'd like to be able to enjoy both of them separately.
3. the current style system doesn't accept attributes and Pyroland vision is an attribute.
My suggestion isn't supposed to be a style, but it's supposed to function basically the same way as styles. A new feature, with a separate button.
Aside from making people able to enjoy using Pyro's taunts and the Pyrovision goggles without going into Pyroland, it will also help prevent any conflicts that might occur if Valve sometime in the future implements any other items with new visions and you equip them both in the same loadout.

But Pyroland is the attribute and point of the items. It's not the taunt. It's like asking for a way to make the Original not be held in the center of the screen because you enjoy the sound effect.
The Rainblower exists as a way into Pyro, it's what the item does, it's why it exists. It's not the taunt kill, that's an extra little bonus. I like the Kritzkreig taunt, but would I call for the Kritz to have a way to shut off its stats and become a medigun because of the taunt? No. Nobody would.

Source Filmmaker? Holy CRAP

But it's the same weapon. People without Pyrovision can see how my taunts look in the normal world, why should I be able to enjoy a part of my weapon that everyone else can enjoy? I don't see the reason I shouldn't be allowed to turn it off, other than people that think that principle is more important than fun.

But, the difference with the kritzkrieg is that it's a completely different weapon from the Medigun. The Rainblower is however, both the Rainblower and the default flamethrower, and it can appear as either one for other players. What I wish, is simply that I also could choose how my weapon appears to me, just how other people can choose how my weapon will appear to them.
I don't really see any reason to oppose this other than for selfish reasons, because it would effect no one but the person who chooses to not see Pyroland.
You basically want to strip away all unique aspects of a weapon and turn it into the Maul. I don't see how I'm being the selfish one. If you want to use the weapon without Pyroland, use the Flamethrower...
But Pyroland is the attribute and point of the items. It's not the taunt. It's like asking for a way to make the Original not be held in the center of the screen because you enjoy the sound effect.
No, it isn't. The Original being in the center of the screen is just as unique as this thing's killtaunt, and just as gamechanging. Asking for a way to use that killtaunt without pyrovision is like asking for an option to have the Original look like the default rocket launcher, while still acting like the Original does. And that's not even a good analogy because the Original doesn't change the way the ENTIRE WORLD looks.
[editline]1st July 2012[/editline]
The fact that a fair few other items also enable pyrovision means the taunt is more of a unique aspect to it than pyrovision is, in which case he's trying to keep the main gimmick about the weapon, unlike you despite you claiming to be. Now as to the lollichop? That, I agree with you for.
you'd be equipping an item you couldn't even see. Doesn't that seem odd to you? Why would they ever implement that?

Why should the person with the weapon not be allowed to choose? Why should I be forced to not enjoy the two new taunts in the normal world simply because you think I shouldn't have the option to turn Pyroland off when using them? I don't see why you should be opposed to a feature that many people would enjoy, and to whoever would not enjoy it, would never notice it in any way themselves.
you'd be equipping an item you couldn't even see. Doesn't that seem odd to you? Why would they ever implement that?
Hats, miscs, action slot taunts.
[editline]1st July 2012[/editline]
And don't you dare say "You can see them when you taunt" and miss the obvious.
[editline]1st July 2012[/editline]
We are basically asking for a taunt item in the form of a flamethrower, with a bonus optional pyroland function.
Now as to the lollichop? That, I agree with you for.
I'm mostly arguing for that since it would be hypocritical not to, not because I really care about that taunt :v:
