but it being able to kill is what makes it fun and different...
For you maybe, I just want the cosmetic. To me, it is a cosmetic weapon. There is no gameplay advantages or disadvantages, the only difference from the default weapon is cosmetic. I want to enjoy the version of the taunt in the normal world, as a cosmetic, for fun, because it's cool. Pyroland version is not as cool.
Everybody shut up and stop arguing
What if, instead of disabling pyroland entirely, you would be able to toggle whether it cuts out whenever you go into third-person? After all, you're not looking through the character's eyes anymore.
That won't work out during runtime due to how the game is coded. Also:
1:41 PM - [FAUCᴱT] Psychopath: I understand what they want, but they're going about it the wrong way 1:42 PM - [FAUCᴱT] Psychopath: If they want to see the taunt as it's seen in reality, then make it only so that is toggleable 1:42 PM - [FAUCᴱT] Psychopath: Pyroland stays 1:43 PM - [FAUCᴱT] Psychopath: the only issue with that is how Pyroland is executed, particles are replaced, so it would need more prep-work in order to work like that
There, now put a lid on it.
The next thread may as well be a "Any Update Speculation Thread"
You're also not taking into account that you're really vulnerable while you're in the middle of the taunt.
That's true for all taunts, you dingus. The difference is that the Amputator taunt does something.
a tauntkill should absolutely be considered a real statistic. I don't see what makes it any different than the Amputator in that regard. It's a gameplay changing ability and whether it's actually useful or not in the scope of things is irrelevant, as it exists, and is an upgrade over the default taunt of the Flamethrower. And I DO have a problem with the Solemn Vow, Third Degree and Amputator. But that's also irrelevant, because the Rainblower has a downside...
That won't work out during runtime due to how the game is coded. Also: There, now put a lid on it.
Did you just copy a chatlog of just you talking.
you still haven't answered, if the rainblower is just a cosmetic skin, why does Pyroland indirectly affect gameplay and the taunt directly affect gameplay.
Because bugs. No team color on burning enemies is not a feature, it is a bug Valve forgot to fix. The taunt has a minor usage about as good as the Equalizer, but even if it didn't kill I would want to have it in the normal world because it's one of Pyro's coolest new taunts, and the Pyroland version is not as cool. If it killing people would make it unbalanced if it wasn't in Pyroland, I would be alright with its ability to kill people be removed.
That's true for all taunts, you dingus. The difference is that the Amputator taunt does something.
So does the Rainblower taunt, it kills anyone within range. And don't call me a dingus, you dunderhead.
Did you just copy a chatlog of just you talking.
I was talking to someone, but I only quoted the relevant lines which all happened to be my own.
You are in a pretty huge minority that doesn't want the taunt to kill :/
That won't work out during runtime due to how the game is coded.
Oh right, that should have been obvious, in retrospect. Oh well.
You are in a pretty huge minority that doesn't want the taunt to kill :/
Is that anything like a small majority?
You are in a pretty huge minority that doesn't want the taunt to kill :/
I want the taunt. I don't give a flying fuck about its ability to kill, that's not why I like it. If assholes think that it would be overpowered to be able to kill when not in Pyroland, my answer to such assholes would be that alright then just remove its ability to kill smartass.
People should make a skin or mod to make pyroland disappear so i can tauntkill with the rainblower without all the rainbows.

I can not for the life of me understand that it could not just be shown as the normal world by having Valve implement a feature to disable it. So no, you stop trying to prevent people from having fun.

That sort of defeats the entire point of the taunt though, doesn't it? This is speaking as a guy who doesn't really care for looking cool, though. So WHO KNOWS
That sort of defeats the entire point of the taunt though, doesn't it?
So let it kill people, but don't buy into the retarded claims that "Pyroland is a balancing feature" and just let people be able to disable pyroland. It's that simple. Or, we remove the ability to kill with it, so that the dumbass idea that Pyroland is a balancing feature don't feel that it's too overpowered without Pyroland.
I would like to argue that the taunt is OP!
That sort of defeats the entire point of the taunt though, doesn't it?
it defeats the entire point of the Rainblower... that it's Pyro's imaginary lala land where everything is happy, but to everyone else it's horrific, destructive and vile. You're not suppose to see the real world version of the taunt because you aren't in the real world using it. Using the rainblower, but not being in Pyroland is just... pointless.
Nope. I can not for the life of me understand that it could not just be shown as the normal world by having Valve implement a feature to disable it. So no, you stop trying to prevent people from having fun.
If you don't want to compromise, then you have to deal with how things are.

Or, we remove the ability to kill with it.
alternate idea: We give the Rainblower a recipe and it's considered a regular weapon like the Degreaser and Backburner...
You are in a pretty huge minority that doesn't want the taunt to kill :/
Would you drop it off? Let me tell you my point of view: 1) Pyroland is not and disadvantage at all. The problem with pyroland is how they made the cosmetic effect. They need teamcolors and less spark, a simple change in the effect should do the trick. 2)Taunt kills are not a direct advantage. Sure some gives you a side effect (ubersaw) but as real way to attack they are useless (unless you get lucky) so is not a direct upgrade in any way posible. Sure I support the idea to turn pyroland items on/off just because the effect doesn't work as pretty much alot of people want but dropp it off. Tauntkills are just for shit and giggles not for balance and gameplay.
If you don't want to compromise, then you have to deal with how things are.
But isn't allowing those that want Pyrovision with the taunt and those that don't be to able to toggle it a compromise in itself?
And the bottle is still broken. Despite it being advertised as shattered on the Manniversary page AND in the in-game main menu portrait of the Swashbuckler's Swag set.
Emails about this still go between me and Valve every month or two :v:
It's a balancing feature? Did I miss Ned or somebody saying that? That's kind of an odd thing to say. Anyway, I can't tell if Simski's really angry about this or if he just talks like a sailor
If you don't want to compromise, then you have to deal with how things are.
My compromise is very fucking simple, you get to choose to be in Pyroland, I get to choose to not be in Pyroland. Both fucking win, nobody is effected in any fucking way by what the other person chooses. Everyone gets to have fun, without anyone fucking up the fun for everyone else.
Giving people to ability to toggle Pyrovision affects nobody but the person who chooses to toggle it on or off. There's no reason to prevent others from using Pyroland items without Pyrovision just because you like it to be on. There's nothing wrong with customization.
