taunt with the flamethrower and it's the exact same situation, except that taunt isn't able to possibly kill something that gets too close.
Then remove the rainblowers ability to kill with taunts, and it won't be overpowered for it to be able to be seen with normal vision when used.

Major Update Speculation V5: Flamethrower++ and gay goggles edition.
Gay-gles.
the huntsman taunt is actually a very legit attack strategy for the weapon, I have used it many times to hit unaware players who I might have missed because of the bad huntsman hitboxes. And it stuns almost instantly, so once you get them, they're trapped.
That's a thing?
so you'd rather take a totally unique weapon, with a unique taunt effect, unique sounds, unique kill icons, and a totally new appearance and make it the maul
okay, whatever
No, YOU want that in order for it to fit your idea of what you consider balance. All I want, is to be able to see the rainblower taunt in the normal world when I'm using it, at any cost.
I said it would be a straight upgrade to the flamethrower, which is an undeniable (even though you'll deny it) fact.

Yes, but just barely, BARELY.
No, YOU want that in order for it to fit your idea of what you consider balance. All I want, is to be able to see the rainblower taunt in the normal world when I'm using it, at any cost.
even if that cost is destroying a unique weapon
taunt with the flamethrower and it's the exact same situation, except that taunt isn't able to possibly kill something that gets too close.
The flamethrower taunt is also much quicker, and therefore taunting with it is much less risky than taunting with the Rainblower.
Yes, but just barely, BARELY.
and pyroland is just barely a downside. So it's balanced...

Now nut up and shut up.
Guys, this discussion pretty much devolved from "this would be a good idea" "no it wouldn't"
to
"i want this" "but i want this"
I don't think we're gonna get anywhere at this point.
even if that cost is destroying a unique weapon
How the FUCK is it destroying it, when everyone who owns it can still visit Pyroland, and everyone who sees someone using it will see the person wielding the rainblower in Pyroland, and the only person, THE ONLY FUCKING PERSON EFFECTED BY THIS MINOR VISUAL CHANGE, is the person who is wielding the rainblower.
and pyroland is just barely a downside. So it's balanced...
Why does everything have to fit this arbitrary sense of balance in your mind? Being able to toggle Pyrovision off would make such an infinitesimally minor difference that gameplay balance wouldn't even be an issue.
It's impossible without completely removing Pyroland from the weapon entirely.

I refuse to believe this, and I definitely won't just take your word for it.
If I get the official word from valve that a feature to disable it is impossible to be implement it, then I will shut up. Until then, no you.
hey
hey guys
shhhh.. so angry..
let's talk about tobors

Please, let's. I'm done talking about this.
I want an alternate style for the Pyrovision Goggles.
Call it "Broken, But Stylish".
They look amazing on Sniper and whatnot, but Pyroland can fuck up your framerate, so it can get annoying to have to re-style my loadouts last second.
Toborvision Goggles next update

It's like the medic completely overshadowed the pyro.
He got an amazing 'meet the' video that everyone agrees is better than MTP.
He got a valve set with game-changing stats.
Everyone else got items (except the engineer).
and he also got a meet the medic taunt(something Simski badly wants for the pyro)
I think that you just had your expectations raised too much by meet the medic and are feeling down now because the pyro got reskins.
There's an achievement for killing people with the taunt. Having the same taunt that can both kill and not kill will only confuse players. They're not going to remove the kill taunt, end of story.
For technical reasons, they're not going to remove Pyroland from the gun in any way shape or form. They won't have the particles toggled by you entering third person because the particles in first and third person are identical and having them toggled so often will not bode well for low-end machines, they cannot add a style that disables Pyroland because that's not how styles work -- attributes are not bound to styles in any way shape or form.
You're barking up a tree that cannot and will not give you an apple from its branches, just be happy with the one that fell onto the ground because that's all you're going to get.
Stick a cork in it, you're fighting an uphill battle that's so uphill that it's completely vertical.
Inb4 toborvision goggles in next update
Naw, Tobor mode is optional just like arena.
You know what I wanted this update?
Something I was looking forwards to and had prepared for?
Something that I was promised and thought I'd be enjoying now?
Tradable quantum conundrum items.
I'm still pissed off.
This update was great for its week but became when I realized how thrown-together it was.

This is completely beside the point and offtopic.
The discussion is now about tobors.
I think the game mode is a good idea but it was kind of done poorly
I'm gonna go visit my happy place, see you guys later.
Yeah, I'm dying to trade off my QC items, especially now that the only part of the game I can run is the trading parts.
Do you think anyone would actually want that ribbon? For God's sake I don't want another badge in my backpack please.
I don't know about you but when I actually buy a game and get promos, I keep them to show I like the game
Because that's the whole point
Yeah, I still use my Big Kill.
But Quantum Conundrum, well, it wasn't exactly worth remembering. I'm gonna pretend I spend that money on a pretend TF2 Pyromania DLC when I look at my bank account.
-snip-
What if they gave the real world version of the Rainblower taunt to an already existing flamethrower?
Would this be possible?
The Scorch Shot taunt needs to be used with a double barrel shotgun weapon in the future. Needs.
Maybe the Torcher's Twinbarrel
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=18000
EDIT: Well, not NEEDS. But it could potentially be awesome. The bigger issue is figuring out how you'd give Pyro a new shotgun without it being redundant. Hmm.

i beg to differ. a lot.
Neither is better, they both are completely different from how they explain the character and how do they work on the tf2 universe.
I am being honest when i watched meet the medic and became surprised as to how the medic was way, way less gentle than i imagined him to be(among with the engineer, i asumed he was one of the less mentaly unstable characters). then mtm hit me in the face and while it took me a while to asume it, it all made perfect sense.
mtp takes a completely different aproach as to how the pyro as a character exist in the battlefield, and how is he percieved in the battlefield. the whole issue with pyrovision certainly makes it more "kid friendly" on the surface, but when these small bits of -context- leak thru the video showing what is "really" happening on the field, you do came to realize that the pyro is in fact that monster that the spy describes, the scout prefers to avoid and the heavy does not dare to aproach.
the narrative in both meet the is completely different, and they both reflect how each character behaves on the battlefield(the medic being the suportive, helpful class that will get his teammates back on the battle, the pyro being a lone rider who only lives to lay death on his enemies whitout support from his teammates). it is also worth to mention how meet the pyro both combines the original "interview" style of the first 4 shorts with the latter "montages" seen in the latter 4.
meet the pyro is way more darker, grim and complex than any of the previous shorts. it certaily does share its layer of obscure comedy that is part of the whole deal with tf2, but it goes way, way beyond that. and for such trait, it is certainly prone to not please everyone for what it does and how it did it.
just like the pyro itself.
