I have this feeling that the capacitor and diary are simply not going to be important anymore and were only not burned because Valve knew people would get mad if their "rarer" items turned to ash
they should have to give the economist a thing to study
Now that the update rush at Valve has died down, this should probably re-get the attention it deserves: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1965434
Wow, the workshop looks all pretty now http://puu.sh/FWhD EDIT: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=79419637&searchtext= I want this, but copyrights say otherwise.
Wow, the workshop looks all pretty now http://puu.sh/FWhD
It's just unfortunate that there's so many terrible submissions marring the new cosmetic changes.
Meet the Medic: Incredibly overrated, IMO. Meet the Team videos are about meeting the team, all we learned is that the Medic is an unsympathetic, maniacal doctor who loves birds (like every cartoon's cold-blooded generic doctor with a foreign accent.) The whole video was centered around the construction of the first medigun, it might as well have been "Meet the Medigun." .
Sorry but uber update just seemed better than pyromania. the day by day was really fun to watch unfold. then the hidden sets. as for meet the medic i don't really get where you get cold and uncaring ? during meet the medic he's seen Joking with his comrades and easing worries over things like snapped ribs Helping his team and being a supportive doctor [ scout. demo ] Fixing up the rest of his team with almost the exact care you'd expect from a regular doctor "Zere we go. zat looks good." ect. :S
Yea, but the Uber Update weapons had more bad ones than good. It's hard to deny it wasn't quantity over quality, at least with the extra pieces of sets. It seems like they had some good ideas for items in sets, but didn't really want to accept the whole set, but did anyway. If you look, every set has a good idea or two in it, plus some kind of bad ideas. Like Tomislav was what they wanted, but the FB and EN needed stats too because it was a whole set. Or the Atomizer, but then you have the Winger (at least the SP is awesome). It really seemed they had one or two items in the set in mind and hobbled together the other items in the sets. It's probably a big reason the sets accepted this time (ALL the community weapons were part of sets), were missing most of their set weapons. This time they accepted only what they could balance, and left out items they weren't confident they could make stats for.
i like the little promo bundle updates that bring in actual stat based weapons [ shogun. deus ex ]
Yea I do too. The Deus Ex weapons were great (except the Short-Circuit) Actually the QuakeCon bundle wasn't half bad either.
what's wrong with the short-circuit?
it's kind of bad [editline]5th July 2012[/editline] also why does activating focus use the Bison firing sound. I actually thought someone was firing at me...
it's not bad. it uses the same skill set as the pyro's airblast. The only difference being that you don't send the projectiles back at people.
and it fires slow as sin and requires you to use valuable metal, but it's top use is in situations when metal is the most important. [editline]5th July 2012[/editline] It also isn't just an airblast for Engineer. It lacks extinguishing and disorienting abilities, which makes it way less useful than an airblast. And often situations where it would be useful could also be solved by moving your sentry or wranglering it.
I find it amazing people can easily accept the low amount of new Pyro content in the PYROMANIA update. It should have just been called the Community Update Featuring Meet The Pyro, because thats all it really was. And the main gimmick of day 3, Pyrovision, doesnt even work on all the official maps. Im glad we waited all that time for 6 weapons, and a Valve made set of weapons with no stats. Its fun to play new content, but the build up and hype was not justified like it was for the Uber update. Not only that, but Meet The Pyro lacks narrative, and if it had come before Meet the Spy i would have been blown away. The main stars of the update were all the weapon changes and Source Filmmaker.
Yeah, the Short Circuit is really disappointing, it is an amazing concept, but there is absolutely no reason to use it. There are so many better alternatives other than wasting so much metal per shot, that its purpose as a sidegrade is redundant. The pistol, the wrangler, both are far better ways at deterring a threat. It's like what they did with the Tomislav this update, or the Quick-Fix prior to Pyromania. While they may seem like unique and useful ideas, their alternatives provided much better solutions to your problems that they are made redundant.
I kinda liked the Pyromania update better than Uber Update, because them weapon balances man. Seriously since Scout update I was hoping the Bonk would actually increase his speed but I felt disappointed when it was basically Invulnerability in a Can. I'm now using Crit-a-Cola more often due to the Speed buff.
This is relevent to he Short Circuit discussion. There was one time when a Demo was intent on destroying my nest and I kept destroying his pipes and stickys as I had a constant flow of metal thanks to my dispenser. I lasted way longer than I would have normally and my team came by and killed that Demo's sorry ass. So yeah I like the Short Circuit.
I wish you could cancel Bonk after 5 seconds or so using alt fire
its not really how much it brings - but how game changing and beneficial those things are war update was the best, no doubt - the kill count thing was the best thing ever done in tf2 history
I imagine we'll be seeing more retooling of the traditionally "useless" weapons, and maybe consolidating reskins into unlockable styles or something similar, rather than just weapon overload. Cosmetic items, taunts, maps, and gamemodes are all great horizontal additions, but adding weapons gets to be a little dangerous because of purely how much stuff impacts gameplay. I imagine joining TF2 as a newbie now is a nightmare with how many different things you need to be aware of.
I'm partial to Sniper v Spy [editline]5th July 2012[/editline]
I imagine we'll be seeing more retooling of the traditionally "useless" weapons, and maybe consolidating reskins into unlockable styles or something similar, rather than just weapon overload. "situations where you need metal the most" -> that means defending your buildings, which means your dispenser is nearby. It's not an airblast, but it's best used like one. and yes, the wrangler beats anything anyday.
They're not going to retool reskins to work like styles
If they're still droppable/tradeable/craftable/purchaseable like they are now but merely lumped into one backpack icon (perhaps with the style button made more prominent and added to the loadout selection), I don't see why not. There's a level of information overload you need to be aware of when designing stuff, and saying "go read a wiki" isn't the best solution. If they're lumped into one weapon with a cosmetic choice button, that would go a ways to helping people understand, "oh, this golf club is the exact same as this enormous sword, that's weird but ok." Also, War Update was my personal favorite. Team Soldier 4 lyfe.
they should had to from the start, if they ever expected to do such thing. nowdays it would cause amazing amounts of rage.
They're not going to retool reskins to work like styles
This, It's like everyone forgets that promos are sometimes reskins of stock weapons, what would do about the tons already in game?

The items will still show up the same to the player in-game, so it'll still be the same problem. You can have every weapon in the game, including reskins and only fill 3 pages with a few slots leftover. That still leaves half your backpack, so there's no shortage of backpack space for weapons
I normally don't mind reskins as long as they are unique enough to warrant a different look for example the Golfclub can be paired with the Tam O'Shanter or the HHH axe with any scary hat but the one reskin that I hate is (No offense to Neo) the Scottish Handshake. It is exactly like the bottle in stats and concept but (I know this is not Neo's fault but rather Valves) it doesn't even break on crits.

But the whole fight with the new unlocks in the sniper vs spy and the comebacks from the two classes was the best thing ever, you wanted to see what the sniper will use, or how the spy will counterattack and what he will pull off.

If they fixed crit glow and cloak, and also found a way for it to work in the set, it would be a lot better [thumb]http://wiki.teamfortress.com/w/images/5/5b/Backpack_Maul.png[/thumb] Doesn't fit TF2 at all, lacks proper team colored yellow, the Homewrecker is made by Laro ------------------------------------------------- My two favorite Reskins [thumb]http://wiki.teamfortress.com/w/images/d/de/Backpack_Sharp_Dresser.png[/thumb] I think this is a pretty obvious pick for best reskin, however, a look at stat sites shows it's one of the most used reskins in the game. [thumb]http://wiki.teamfortress.com/w/images/8/86/Backpack_Bootlegger.png[/thumb] Because the booties are ugly, and these are not. With their own sounds they'd be perfect.

The "easy answer" to that is to expand the backpack space for free again (or force everyone to buy expanders), but that's more of a band-aid than an actual solution. It's more of an organizational issue. If when you picked your weapon, you say, picked the stock Rocket Launcher from the loadout screen. From there you could get a dropdown with all the variants, including reskins. So, default Rocket Launcher, Vintage Rocket Launcher, Genuine Original, normal Original, Strange Rocket Launcher, a name tagged Rocket Launcher, and so on. For backpack purposes it doesn't have to consolidate them, but it might help. Like I said, not the worst of problems now, but I imagine it'll be in the future if we keep seeing item bloat. For recognition purposes I do think reskins should have a "stat" on them that states that "this weapon is a cosmetic version of x". For things like variant weapons, having a stat that says "this weapon is based off the Eyelander" for the Claidehemaheawhatiscalled would be helpful as well.

I'm sure by then, TF2 Episode 2 will be out
