Major Update Speculation V5: Somewhere over the rainbow

the Original isn't a reskin ._.
However, that seems to just be one extra step over the current loadout selection process. It already shows all the variants when you click the slot.
I don't think TF2 will last long enough for them to double the amount of weapons they've added since release.

WAIT NOBODY TOLD ME THEY ADDED A NEW PYRO ACHIEVEMENT
I had 100% before, just noticed I don't anymore. Didn't even know the Rainblower had an achievement, wow.
Well, I got some spawn walls to camp.

Lefty viewmodels change the rocket's emancipation point too, but there isn't a Lefty Launcher or anything. That's just a toggle in a menu. For most purposes, it's pretty much a reskin.

In addition to all the ones that have actual stat differences, and all of their variants. It's a bit sloppy.

Eh, at the time it launched, most people didn't expect TF2 to last quite this long either, let alone have more than double the amount of weapons, tons of items, hats, multiple new gamemodes, trading, crafting, an economy, and so on. Stylized "timeless" art styles do good things for a game. That, and, you know, having a very competent company behind it.

'atta boy.
I really think the Three Rune Blade, Headtaker, and Lugermorph are really nice reskins, but i wish the Headtaker would glow purple.
And its funny because i rarely see the Maul when i play and a lot of people dont know it exists because its so uncommon.
The original fires from the center, it's an attribute that changes the weapon enough Valve thought it needed a recipe.
You can do some different things on corner shots, and for some people it's slightly easier to aim. The Original's origin for rocket shooting is the center, rockets travel in a straight line straight down the center, unlike the regular rockets.

And the lefty viewmodels make the stock launcher shoot from the left, making sentry sniping from righthand corners impossible. And that's not a reskin, it's a menu option. There's not really parity there. By most definitions the Original's a reskin. Does sound really cool, but there's no strange variation so I don't use it much.
but it has an attribute for firing down the center that's one TF_English line away from showing up in blue on the weapon...
but it has an attribute for firing down the center that's one TF_English line away from showing up in blue on the weapon...
And it doesn't appear in-game. If it was so vital, it'd probably have been there from the start, maybe with a flavor description.
Also, I still think reskins need a "this is a cosmetic variation of x" neutral stat. That wouldn't be difficult to add, right?
if it wasn't vital the Original wouldn't have a recipe...
The Original isnt listed in the reskin section on the wiki, so if you think it is one, go and try to edit in a section for it. Even though firing from the center is still unique.
if it wasn't vital the Original wouldn't have a recipe...
If it was, there would be a Lefty Launcher, and it'd have a recipe too.
that doesn't even make any sense...
Left handed models have a simple option. Center View doesn't, it's an attribute no different than crits after kill or no critical hits...

I'm assuming this is old, is it?

And they all affect gameplay, but only slightly. I'm saying if center shooting is so important that it warrants its own recipe, ie, requires you to use other items to make a new item for that one specific feature, then why isn't left handed shooting that important as well? By all accounts it isn't, because it's a simple menu option.
man, I was close. I guessed the Banana was modeled, but I didn't believe the diary was. It was... oh well.

but it's a simple menu change... so if it's important... you just change the menu option.

Right, it's valuing one (center shooting) more than the other (lefty shooting), for no discernible reason. If there's some reason why that is, I'd genuinely like to know, because in my mind they're equally as valuable (which is to say, not a whole lot).
(parentheticals give me a boner)

Center shots can be changed on the fly just by switching primaries. Left shots have to be changed by going into the menu and (I think) restarting TF2 or Re-joining Server
center view requires new animations

I remember it getting changed when people could use it during their current life. I thought it got changed to taking effect on respawn/resupply, but I could be wrong.
center view requires new animations
Does it though? I mean, it'd look awkward as all hell (only slightly more so than the Loch n Load), but couldn't you just set the stock launcher to shoot from the center?
Alright, well, to avoid making more people mad at me, I'll drop it. It's a silly issue anyway. Back to tinfoil hattery and Saxxies speculation and whatnot.
In miscellaneous/funfact news, Jeep emailed me a response to a question I sent to the entire TF team.
He personally had this song in mind for the Pyroland segments of Meet the Pyro.

4 days before IT BEGINS. Time to get hyped for something created by my own psychosis.
I normally don't mind reskins as long as they are unique enough to warrant a different look for example the Golfclub can be paired with the Tam O'Shanter or the HHH axe with any scary hat but the one reskin that I hate is (No offense to Neo) the Scottish Handshake. It is exactly like the bottle in stats and concept but (I know this is not Neo's fault but rather Valves) it doesn't even break on crits.
I disagree, the fact that it looks so similar makes it far less confusing

Blue? It's not better, just different.
So, uhh, did anything happen on July 4th? (I was out the whole time) If so, could somebody possibly re-cap it if anything did happen?

I've seen you post messages similar to this on other boards as well, what do you think is happening and why?

Alright. Where to begin.
Facts: The Capacitor and the Diary still exist. Some people here are still under NDAs with knowledge of things that will be in the game unrelated to Pyromania. We know Valve is working on some secret projects.
Speculation: Endless. Foundry was the map where TOBOR was really brought to focus. Foundry has the The Crucible achievement. 137 kills. 137. 13/7. July 13th. July 13th is the last day of a week-long Robotics conference in Sydney, Australia that begins on the 9th. The Pyromania items expire on the 11th.
We also, unrelated to the general line, have had Gaben himself openly discussing Steam's support for Linux. So that adds to the pot. If Steam comes to Linux, TF2 will be among the first things brought over.
http://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2012/07/valves-gabe-newell-reiterates-steam-linux-support
So you think they're going to release Steam for Linux this month.
So you think they're going to release Steam for Linux this month.
Based on wild speculation and magic sparkly dreams, I could see MvM coming out and us effectively getting back-to-back update events.
S4L is just something I'm tossing into the pot for "things Valve is doing".
Hell, we quite possibly caught the Higgs Boson and directly observed dark matter yesterday. The stars are right.
Normally I wouldn't expect major updates two weeks apart, but although smaller in scale, the Manniversary and Third Halloween updates were two weeks apart so who knows.
Nothing happened because 'it's a holiday'. They updated Dota 2, so they have no excuse for not adding the Svdl set.
Thank you, good sir
