Speaking of servers, are they ever going to move TF2 over to the new content delivery system? There was (still is) a huge thread on HLDS about steamcmd and moving over games to the new CDS...

I tried running Portal 2, and it prompted me to update to the new system, so it seems it's a slow process, but it's getting there.

sigh, guess another weekend of my strange Escape Plan not working
Goddamit valve what would it cost you to fix the reliable snapshot overflow error
FYI: The San Diego Comic-Con starts this Thursday (the 12th)

if there was ever a day to release the new Weta items, it's that day (like last year's Soldier pack)
I'm willing to bet the next update is September at the latest.
Of course, anybody who has been around since before 2010 would likely agree with me, seeing as it's not too far from normal update development time.

Summer Sale Update ring a bell?
Well, you know what kind of update I mean. The sort that would be listed on the "history" page.
Summer Sale might just be along the lines of last year's. As in, they throw us some goodies, but it's not a major thing.
I hope it's as good as last year, though. We got some damn good items out of that. I still have my flip-flops!

Oh. Then my theory about the Saxxies might be true.
If we look at the Academy Awards, the only date left for a possible date for the Saxxies is in November.
Speaking of which: do you guys consider 2011 to be TF2 hitting its peak?
I guess part of why I wasn't as easily disappointed was the fact that I never expected them to keep up the pace.
It started off on the heels of a year that introduced mac players and the mann-conomy, and managed to be even bigger by going F2P. Things were as good as they probably ever could be.
2012, well, it mostly seems to be trying to fall into a routine. I mean, F2P isn't going to be topped. We know that. They tried a new system of small weekly updates, but I think the concept backfired horribly. Nobody seems to give a shit. If they had denied us those bugfixes and hats until early march, it could have been seen as another Hatless Update. It was like feeding us table scraps, instead of waiting to present a meal.
It just wasn't as satisfying that way, no matter how much they actually gave us.
The way I see it, we're never getting 2011 again. It took two magical years where all the stars were in alignment. I just can't see it happening again. It's still an outstanding game, but the problem is that we have to wean ourselves off of what we were trained to expect.
Well, I'd say F2P could be comparable with MvM
F2P - fighting a bunch of morons
MvM - fighting a bunch of mechanical morons
The weapons of 2011 were not really my favorite. Last year we had two major weapon updates, and a whole bunch of bug fixes, but last year was easily the most buggy of any year. For 2 months (one month after hatless, one after manniversary) many people (a good amount too), couldn't even run TF2. I even had constant crashes after the manniversary right up until almost Halloween. Halloween in 2011 was also kind of weak, especially compared to the roaring good time of 2010's Halloween. The Shogun and Deus Ex updates were alright, but most of the weapons of 2011 needed a lot of balance changes and tend to be the buggiest.
Speaking of 2010, that is my pick for the strongest year in TF2. 3 major updates with new weapons (Engineer, Mannconomy and Christmas), plus the best Halloween event we've had yet, plus the start of community items, plus the Engineer update. The item system really took off, with crafting and trading being fleshed out. It added painting, one of the best features of customization. We also got a bunch of maps, and kill icons for every weapon in the game (finally). The Mannconomy changed the way we look at TF2 items, and TF2 has never quite felt the same since then. That's not a bad thing either.
2010 was a strong year, a very strong year for TF2. I'm hoping 2012 picks up. The Pyromania, although way late in the year, was a good start, and 2010 didn't really shine until the Engineer update (well, the 6 weapons we got in 2010 before the Engy update were decent enough), so maybe this year will be pretty intense.
If I had to rate the years of major updates
2010
2011
2009 (a good year, but updates were far between with little patches in between)
2008 (I wasn't around for this update)

Well, if they're going to hold up all their promises we still have:
Summer Update
Saxxies
Halloween
Christmas
The-not-a-hat-map-hybrid (Probably MvM)
And they have to get all that done in 5 months. We could be getting a major update a month from here on out, unless they combine stuff.
I remember my first game after the Uber Update hit.
More specifically, I remember thinking, "holy shit, I'm good now"
Also judging by terms of actual update quality, as opposed to just the excitement, I don't think I could ever pick!
2010 seems very solid though. Remember how little bitching there was over anything that wasn't a golden wrench?
Wait, what year did they make you only need two weapons to make a scrap
I just happened to have a backpack full of weapons that day
let's go with that year
they were trying to do a "major" thing a month last year, and it worked out okay.
I wonder why after Christmas they just kind of stopped with monthly events. I guess Dota2 development started to pick up at that time
I have a feeling there was a conscious decision there. Maybe even a meeting where they decided how they'd handle things from then on.
I know I mention this a lot, but that "Coming in 2012" post had so much between the lines. They definitely seemed to be expecting disappointment and impatience.
If it was "Coming This Summer", then no big deal, they're just teasing us to maintain interest. But shit, that's an entire year. There can't be a lot of optimism there.
e: although let me say for the record that I don't disagree on the thought that we're gonna get a lot of attention soon.
All I'm thinking is that the last two years are the most it will ever have. The player base is fucking enormous, we aren't going back to the Before Times of waiting for those class updates any time soon.
never got my robot chicken code, fuck
never got my robot chicken code, cluck
It's like there's a bunch of cocks over there with eggs for brains, can't even lay codes right. Well I'm going to crow about this until the capon in charge gets it right.
The Christmas update will involve santa making robots, calling it now.
The Christmas update will involve santa making robots, calling it now.
Ho ho ho, have a robot.
A ho-bot?

Old Nick is dead.
Old Nick is dead.
So is Silus Mann but he still made a surprise appearance at Mann Manor.
Cyborg Old Nick, The Spirit of Augmented Australian Christmas.

Deus Ex Pack 2.
Cyborg Old Nick, The Spirit of Augmented Australian Christmas.
The Cybernetic Ghost of Christmas Past from the Future.
Halloween-wise, I guess we already have a vengeful, formally poopy spirit that would have a bone to pick with the tf2 mercenaries.
2012 be the year of The Ghost of Smokey Joe.

Cyborg Old Nick? No.. clearly his name shall be Old Robotnik.
I have to ask what games have received an update just recently for the supposed “summer sale extravaganza.” I am curious because I’m trying to figure out the common theme for them. I know Killing Floor did a repeat of their last year event. I even been staring at Magicka because there are references left from their DLC (on the other side of the coin) to another upcoming DLC. I could be wrong though, but it might be related to what’s to come for TF2.

Honest to god, I can't remember what game specifically added content for the summer sale. I think it was a racing game?
My favourite year was 2009, simply because we got the two best updates: Sniper vs Spy (my personal favourite) and WAR!
