When did Valve convert most models to c_models anyway?

December 17, 2010 Patch (Australian Christmas) Updated the model to use c_models.
That's what the wiki says concerning the grenade launcher at least (which now sports 6 glorious empty barrels).
That's what the wiki says concerning the grenade launcher at least (which now sports 6 glorious empty barrels).
That really sucks, if they don't mind leaving some thing as v models (such as the sniper rifle), why not at least leave the grenade launcher? Or just make it properly. [editline]15th July 2012[/editline] Is the sniper rifle still a v model? I have a feeling it got converted in the Pyromania update, but the sapper is probably still a v model so my grenade launcher point would still stand.
Pretty sure Sniper Rifle is still a v_model, otherwise the festive one would be broken.
That means nothing, the flamethrower uses a c_model and yet the Festive Flamethrower works just fine. Sniper Rifle still uses a v_model though.
That means nothing, the flamethrower uses a c_model and yet the Festive Flamethrower works just fine. Also I'm talking out of my ass and you're probably right.

What does the c in c_model mean? Combined?
What does the c in c_model mean? Combined?
I've always thought it was "common". Because in this case the viewmodel and worldmodel share a common mesh, you know.
The C stands for "combination" because it's both a world and a viewmodel.
So people have got the codes from the models and activated them to get those purple and green packages and apparently they do nothing. They're just placeholders as they haven't decided what to put in them yet. Good 'ol Valve :v:
Uhhh... what did I miss?
So, why exactly is the Bazooka so broken? I've seen that video, but I want to know how in the hell they got it to do anything like that with the attributes it has.
Uhhh... what did I miss?
This and this.
What's in the Sandvich Box?/Companion Square Box? is an action item given to the Comic-con San Diego 2012 attendants who purchased the 1:1 Sandvich toy made by ThreeA Toys via an in-game code. Good 'ol Valve :v:
You don't open a crate type item when the items that are supposed to be inside don't exist to begin with, and expect for the package to actually contain something. If anything that proves that there'll be something that is actually new in these packages. I place my money on a gimmick tool item though, but I could be absolutely wrong. By the way, anybody got a pic of the companion square promos, and how they attach to the classes?

By the way, anybody got a pic of the companion square promos, and how they attach to the classes?
Honestly, I've read your first sentence numerous times and I still don't understand it, hehehe... All I know ( and this is from two people), is that the fellows at Valve have said that they haven't yet decided what the items are going to be. As for it being a gimmick tool item, it just sounds wrong to have something like an exclusive tool (no matter how gimmicky) withheld from the rest of the community. After all, there are only 250 of these things (500 if you count both items). I'm thinking it's going to be something at the level of a genuine Sandvich, but my real betting money is on 3A Toys company baseball cap reskin of the man co cap. Really easy to mod, they've done it before on the Dues Ex Company Man, kinda like this hat:
By the way, anybody got a pic of the companion square promos, and how they attach to the classes?
I just got the tracking info from the guy who picked up my replica Sandvich. It should arrive in 1 or 2 days. When I input the code, I'll see if it attaches like the man co gifts and send the info here.
Well, a gimmicky action item being distributed to a thin portion of the community already happened in the past, it's called noise makers.
Well, a gimmicky action item being distributed to a thin portion of the community already happened in the past, it's called noise makers.
I wouldn't compare the thin portion of the community who received certain noise maker with the thin portion of the community that will receive...whatever this will be. It's like comparing an ant with an atom in saying they are both small, without taking into account that one is several order of magnitude smaller. ;) Even the smallest amount of noise makers handed out cannot compare to the paltry amount of whatever this stuff will end up being. Firstly, at least everyone had a fair opportunity to receive these noise makers. They were usually announced all over the TF2 blog, when you played TF2 you saw people wearing it which gave you an opportunity to pre-order, and usually the pre-orders are announced a fair amount of time before the game came out. It gave you some breathing room. So because the exposure of the pre-order info was high and the good amount of time to pre-order, it's fair game whatever the pre-order bonus is noisemakers or otherwise. The way 3A toys handled the distribution of the Sandvich and the Companion Square is completely the opposite. There was almost no word of these items being released unless you happened to read the right high-end toy blog or the right gaming blog at the right time. No TF2 blog, nothing. Extremely limited exposure. Added with the no exposure, the time frame to pre-order these items was also extremely limited. June 26th was public pre-order, in an hour or so everything was gone. Added with the no exposure and the limited window, the method for acquiring the items was even more ridiculous. So freakin' ridiculous that even if they announced to the world that the items were going to be available plus give people plenty breathing room to pre-order it would not be enough. Added with the limited exposure/time, you had to physically be at the San Diego Comic Con to pick the item up. 3A toys took something that was somewhat possible but difficult to acquire and made it nearly impossible. So no, I wouldn't compare the exclusive noisemakers which could easily be acquired by everyone for the reasons I've listed with the crushingly difficult way of acquiring the Sandvich/Companion Square. They are simply two different beasts. So I'll stand by my statement that it's not fair to the rest of the TF2 community if they released a gimmick tool such as the noisemaker (however trivial the item may be). In fact, I think it's not fair to the community that they are even including these codes at all with the way 3A handled the distribution.
*optimistic*
Valve has done bigger dick moves in the past, I wouldn't be surprised if they pulled something else off like that this time.
fair enough, I'll have to agree with you on that one, I'll be pretty pissed if they pull a mew and decide to make this promo interesting, kinda like on the manniversarry they released the football manager promos after announcing them on sega's facebook ~18 hours before, effectively giving you less than a day-long time window to preorder a game without knowing what the content was going to be. Turned out that people went mad over the scarf and running shoes, which is why valve had no choice but re-releasing them in the mannco store. Which means they could potentially do the exact same thing again for the sandvich and square promos, but that would be borderline douchey.

Guys, was this discovered? You know, you can force Pyrovision on any map. I did it on Mann Manor. It's mostly bugged and missing textures, but there's something interesting. Before: [t]http://wiki.teamfortress.com/w/images/a/a5/Mannmanor_cp_04.png[/t] After: [t]http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/920108056687941807/693D00A8109263D19947FBBCAB1D450CB018E7AE/[/t] Nyan Mann, Redmond's cat.
Oh god, they used Vigo the Carpathian's painting from Ghostbusters II.

wait, Pyroland actually changes the paintings in Mann Manor? If so, that's really cool
Oh god, they used Vigo the Carpathian's painting from Ghostbusters II.
He's suffering from Carpathian Kitten Loss.
I probably should have mentioned this earlier but if you ever make Community Schema 3 or something, could you remove the Face equip region from the Humanitarian's Hachimaki? Or maybe I should just send an email about it to some Valve employee. Who do I send it to to get the best possible result?
I love this "Legend of Zelda's Lens of Truth" side of the Pyrovision :v:
Oh, oh my god, this is a mod that needs to be made now, everything with a bit of an uncomfortable change when wearing the Mask of Truth.
