Major Update Speculation V5: Somewhere over the rainbow
I guess that's a valid complaint, but I still think drab tincture is much more gentle on the eyes than the near illuminating white of the abundance of tinge.
It is and that's why I want a fine balance. A bit whiter than Drab but not as eyeraping as white.
But being able to easily see projectiles is good too. The laser weapons are nearing the threshold of invisibility, and having Cream Spirit ones flying around in a desert map makes them even less visible.
There's not many desert maps anyway, and on top of that how many people would you see running around with Cream Spirit? It's not popular at all. You'd see much more people running around with the darker colors.

Of the official 50 maps, 21 of them have a desert theme.
That's still the majority theme, no other map theme even comes close to that abundance.

But out of those 21, how many are commonly played on anything but Valve servers? And anyone who owns a painted Cow Mangler most likely isn't playing there aside from hassling newbies. And even on those desert maps, I'm sure there's some features on the map that are darkly colored or are white. NARH's original point was that the two teams would be difficult to distinguish when painted Cream Spirit and Waterlogged Labcoat. Cream Spirit is dark orange for RED and light yellow for BLU, really isn't that hard to distinguish if you're not distracted. And Labcoat is just lighter red and blue. So there's no reason to have them excluded, assuming Valve ever brings back paint.
Commonly played maps... let's see...
dustbowl
goldrush
badlands
badwater
upward
doomsday
That leaves out well, granary, thunder mountain, 2fort, and foundary?
Not really helping your point here.
Look, the point is, someone said they were hard to distinguish, especially in a desert environment. I dunno about you guys, but I can tell the difference. It's slightly harder on Cream Spirit, I'll give it that, but Waterlogged Labcoat is fairly obvious.

The four on the right are Cream Spirit and Waterlogged Labcoat. It's a bright laser coming towards you, it's not dull. It's very flashy and loud.
I don't know why we're arguing this, they'll never bring it back anyway.
they're not going to intentionally make the cow mangler paintable

That's what I said. It's probably for the best anyway.

But i think that's a TF2 item for sure.
I sure hope not. I don't want another useless badge cluttering up my inventory.

Yeah i hate free stuff too.
"An extraordinary abundance of tinge" just looks fucking awful to me, it's what lime green is to zephania's greed, it's a color that's not even trying to fit in, it stands out like a sore thumb and it's popular because it stands out and because it's pricy.
Peculiarly drab tincture is to me the white color that fits the artstyle. Here's some examples I got from TF2 galleries:

Do you guys REALLY think this color doesn't look like white?
neato, i took that heavy picture

It would be great if they implemented all the badges as TF2 item badges. For example, Golden Potato with slight glow effect (nothing too flashy), regular potato (with smoke effect), etc. Make them untradable as well, so people will stop saying I bought the silly octopuss hat from another.

The octopus hat is untradable too. They just need to be unwrappable.
Holy crap, just checked my email and the TFteam answered my question about the Companion Square/Sandvich codes I acquired! This seriously made my week.

So what do you think 3A buried under that shed? :v:
Edit: I also like that his style of writing reminds me of the TF2 blog's style of writing.
They are unwrappable, and that's a good thing. You can't exactly wear the thing when it's covered in paper.
Fuck that whole nonsense about 3A, a bullshit way of creating what could possibly be some of the rarest items in the game.
On a completely unrelated note, why is it when I search for Painted Cow Manglers, all I can find are ones painted Balaclavas are Forever?

We never did find out where all that australium Hale stole ended up...
Apparently, the guy who replied back to my Companion Square/Sandvitch question email is (or used to be) a regular facepuncher by the name of PersonGuy. It's cool to see Valve employee having discussions in forums other than Spuf.

Australium Sandvich. Upon eating it you turn into a gold statue.
I bet every single owner of those would repeatedly go onto the battlefield and do that.

I know I would.
a badge that's a gilded rocket embedded in your player's chest
on death: burning, golden gibs

"Nom nom nom, Om n-*CLANG*... *thud*"
"Oh god damn it not again."
So we didn't get a weekly update yesterday. So... Monday's the night for something?

on usage you become encased in gold and move as fast as a brass beast heavy
..but you're invulnerable
...and your only weapon is holiday punch that does no damage

You could still taunt kill. Giving people the "midas touch" :v:

I'd use the hell out of that just so I could defend a control point with utmost certainty until a Pyro, Soldier, or Demoman pushes me away :v:
I got an email saying that we'll get an update soon. Just saying.

Confirm. Here's what Eric said:
There are mandatory TF2, DoD:S, and HL2:DM updates coming. We should have them ready in about 15 minutes.

Same here. "In about 15 minutes." it says.
