You sure not everyone got into that quickplay beta? I just checked and i'm in.
I never get into these things.
I'm not so no it's not everybody.
TF2 Beta is officially useless.
TF2 Beta is officially useless.
It's like they entirely forgot it exists or something.
Remember when they used it to test the Quick-Fix and those Pocket Launchers?
Ah...good times.

I don't think that's the case. Valve probably did it in the release version because the beta version dies out 3 days after a bigger size update for it, and they want lots of feedback.

well maybe they shouldn't have tied regular drops with beta drops
it's a simple UI change anyway. The beta was specifically made to try those kind of changes without affecting the normal game...
I wanna play TF2, so if anyone wants to see the quickplay menu just add me :v:
wait what the fuck, i dont have it anymore
i have never, ever used quickplay.
why should i when its much better to just pick among your favorited servers?

I think this new version is to invite friends into a party so you can all go to a single server together, finding an entirely random server and playing together.
Saves a lot of hassle.

It's a very rudimentary lobby system.
It's a very rudimentary lobby system.
But it gets the point across, right? I think that's what they went for - Simple but Practical.
Besides, it's in beta. It might get improved in later stages from feedback. Maybe.
Just got a 3.8 MB update.
Anybody know whats in it?

"Fixed Unicode characters getting stripped from player names"
"Fixed Unicode characters getting stripped from player names"
I was excited
"Fixed Unicode characters getting stripped from player names"
I actually didn't notice that my ᴱ was taken away until another player joined and their name was completely blank due to it being comprised entirely of unicode and they then were confused about it.
Good to see that got fixed promptly.
After a recent update, I can't find any australian servers in the server browser unless I set the filter to "All" and even then only a few servers come up, mostly in asia. And the game now hangs for a few seconds when I press "Disconnect" is this happening to anyone else?

The hanging on before disconneting happens to me too, but i thought it was because i played on linux.
So, I got into the Quickplay Beta. Which is surprising considering I'm not an avid TF2 player much at the moment. Got a screenshot of the opening screen of it if anyone is interested:

Unfortunately I have nobody to play with.
Didn't testinglol make a crude sketch of a "future lobby system for TF2 to be used with MvM"? It was very similar to this.
We've released mandatory updates to TF2, DoD:S, and HL2:DM. The notes for the updates are below.
-Eric
------------------------------
Source Engine Changes (TF2, DoD:S, HL2:DM)
- Added sv_namechange_cooldown_seconds, to throttle clients from changing their name too rapidly. (Defaults to 20 seconds)
- Added sv_netspike_on_reliable_snapshot_overflow to selectively enable the automatic dumping of netspike file if a client drops due to "reliable snapshot overflow" (defaults to 0, which disables the debugging)
- Added check to prevent player names from containing color codes
- setinfo console command will now reject attempts to set / change convars with any unusual characters
Team Fortress 2
- Fix a bug that caused gameservers to not properly receive client inventory updates. (Frequent cause of the "The server you are playing on has lost connection to the item server" error message.)
- Fixed not being able to equip all-class items properly
- Fixed the DX8 water effect
- Fixed the Beggar's Bazooka misfiring with 100% crits after firing a crit rocket
- Fixed the Sandman not allowing after death kills strange part
So this means no more pools of cum for DX8 players?
So this means no more pools of cum for DX8 players?
i think it fixed the purple/black checkers on water

That it was, although it was also rather similar to Left 4 Dead/2's lobby, which i'm hoping this will also work close to.

Quickplay thing is party. Lobby is different. Lobbies look like L4D ones.
They added some stuff about lobbies in this update. We probably won't see lobbies until MvM.
Crossposting quickplay beta stuff
EDIT: If you opt in and don't like it, toggle tf_quickplay_beta_preference.
Haaah, you can "opt in" even without being selected by changing it to 1. Awesome.
It also appears it's a random 10% of the TF2 community that was selected, judging by tf_quickplay_beta_ask_percentage
[editline]21st July 2012[/editline]
The ability to invite friends is quite cool.

Lobby code is copied from DOTA. So it's just like dota 2. Leave and get into low priority pool.
Lobby code is copied from DOTA. So it's just like dota 2. Leave and get into low priority pool.
But if you leave a lobby in Dota 2, you don't get in low priority pool ?
It's if you leave a matchmaking game.
Press escape in the quickplay, then look in the console.
"ESC Pressed in lobby. I heard you, it's just broken right now"
Why were the demo's bonnet and the world model for the syringe gun modified?
They seem to fiddle with the clipping on Demo's bonnet quite a lot. No idea for the syringe gun.

It's obvious
[sp]default demo tobors will wear the bonnet[/sp]

Matchmaking creates a lobby.
Low priority pool for TF2...? What would even be the point, TF2 is a game where people leave and are replaced unlike Dota2 where if you leave you screw up the game for everyone.
