Major Update Speculation V5: Somewhere over the rainbow

so now that the summer seal is done, I'm going to assume we'll get back on track with weekly patches, etc, etc, like pre-pyromania.
Funny how I've grown to miss those patches, especially with the last month's worth of patches just fixing Pyromania bugs.
I was expecting the badges to become TF2 items, I mean the Community one would fit in the game nicely.
Maybe someday.
Edit: Damn, pseudo-ninja'd, nevermind <3
Someone has mentioned that a new Grodbort's book is coming out this friday, right?
Visit over! I got to interview Dario Casali about TF2!
I will make a new thread with the answers and pictures tonight!
A fairly well known SPUF member visited Valve and got to interview someone about TF2.

That'll make an interesting read...
I just found out Community Schema 1.0 is why I have my current job.
"We loved your ambition to tackle problems on your own. I really loved that little project you did organizing the items for Team Fortress 2. It showed you saw a problem, researched into how to fix it, and tackled it on your own"
Also we forgot to say you are not getting pay for this.
Valve.
I love how Valve no longer give a toss for his own game rather that adding random stuff and giving the job to fix stuff to other people.
Still you are the best and you should get paid for your work.

No surprises, this is a billion times better.

I'm very much getting paid for this new job. Very much getting paid with amazing benefits well above what you get as a entry level. I start my career with 17 paid days off, which is insane for entry level, which usually starts with 0 PTO and works up to maybe a week after half a year. The pay is fairly average, but I have to love these benefits.

Oh you Valve.
buy them a 1:1 replica of Wheatley instead
Most items that were previously on sale have had their price permanently lowered.
Man I wish I would be able to work for valve, but I have no applicable skills :saddowns:, and does it seem like Valve is pretty much done with their own Development of TF2 for now, with the grand finale Meet the Pyro? :v:
Description and Name Tags now permanently 99 cents
All previous one-off workshop items now five dollars
A few other items and weapons got a dollar or so off their prices. Mostly tools and weapons

This is a joyous day
Fletch said this in a post to HLDS about SourceTV not working on DoD:S:
We'll fix it in an update in the next day or so.
My apologies.
And no, the servers are not actually "hibernating." That term is not really applicable anymore since we changed the way the ticks work. Really, it just means the server has acknowledged that it's empty (of human players) and available to receive a matchmade game (for TF).
More evidence:
Answers!
* We'll fix the sv_region bug in the next day or so.
* We'll fix it kicking the SourceTV and Replay bots also.
* Nothing will prevent your server from receiving (regular) quickplay or server browser players. So basically there is no downside to opting into the beta. The shortcoming (which will be fixed soon) is that quickplay beta must seed the server in order to continue to put players into it. If the first player joins through any other means, then quickplay beta currently thinks that server is "full" and won't send any players that way.
We shall fix the sv_region getting slammed in the next day or so!
setmaster doesn't do anything anymore. The UDP heartbeating has been deleted entirely.
When windows servers aren't working but Linux ones are, a common problem is that there are Steam binaries on the windows box that are being used. (A steam client that has not been updated in a while.)
Can you provide some more info about the mods that aren't listing? What is the gamedir? Give me an IP or two that you think should be listed but isn't. (Feel free to email me those details directly if you would rather not post them on the list.)
- Fletch
Also about quickplay:
Since the weekend went without any significant problems, we're going to increase the percentage of people who are asked if they want to participate to 100 soon. Also, we'll increase the number of players needed to seed a server, since the player pool will be a bit bigger. (It's really low right now.)
Tuesday or Wednesday
[sp]could possibly be a night[/sp]

I expect a blog post, maybe tonight, announcing all these ''permanent sales''.

OH YES
OH MY GOD YES
THIS IS THE BEST UPDATE OF TF2 AND IT DIDN'T EVEN REQUIRE AN ACTUAL UPDATE

Now hopefully people will start selling the tags at a rec each like the good old days.

Unfortunately, they'll probably still rationalize it as being still 1 refined and a reclaimed at secondary market prices (last time I checked, it was 60 cents/refined).
