Major Update Speculation V5: Somewhere over the rainbow

Damn I hope the Saxxies don't come before Monday- after 2 months I'm FINALLY getting a new desktop then and I need to learn how to use SFM :v:
So, basically, TF2maps will soon spam the workshop with quality maps, a bugfix update will happen if ned manages to crash Valve's inbox, the beta stays beta, and something will happen soon in 3 months.
Also this thread is turning into an american show featuring Ronin and testinglol
I can hear the pre-recorded laughs in the background
The Second Annual Saxxy Awards
Just in case the Oscar mummies don’t recognize the subtle dramatic undertones of the uninterrupted blood explosion that is Meet the Pyro, we can always stack the deck at the Saxxys, our own awards show. This year, expect the Saxxys to be much bigger and better, due to the imminent unveiling of another secret. Is it that we’re giving Meet the Pyro five Oscars? That’s not the secret, but let’s just say we’d like to thank the Academy. More specifically, we’d like to thank the Academy’s lawyers for not reading this blog post.
Blog is not updated ? Leaked ?
Blog is not updated ? Leaked ?
I think it's from that blog post from the beginning of 2012
Blog is not updated ? Leaked ?
It has been on the blog since... January?
February.
so what just happened
Based on Huff's visit, I'm hoping that the "Very soon" Huff got won't just end up being the saxxies.
Someone got an email response from Robin where he used to term "very soon now," didn't they? And that ended up being about a week and a half before Pyromania hit. Maybe "very soon" in Valve time really does mean "very soon."
so what just happened
Not much, speculation wise. Old post from testinglol was shared that either ended up true, or was public info. (Though the aliens thing is NOT from recently, but back around 2004-ish when they were still using the idea of having a "Commander" with an overview of the map. It's on the HL wiki if you want to know more)
Another guy got a tour with someone who works on TF2 and learned some cool info, but nothing that really proves or disproves our speculation.
we got confirmation that there's a large community big fix update coming, and another major project is on its last minute fixes and is practically ready to ship.
I think that's kind of a big deal
Wow, valve is awesome for shipping two "big" updates so close each other

Implying Pyromania was big.
Implying Pyromania was big.
That's why I put commas in big.
Implying Pyromania was big.
it was big if you don't count the Uber Update in your size measurements, which was an outlier on size.
Also most of the Uber Update weapons had the most bugs (and many still have these bugs) and were also pretty weak stat wise. The Pyromania weapons are all pretty balanced, besides the Scorch Shot and maybe the SMG
pyro update brought us flying medics and balloonicorns
the update was large enough for me
Implying Pyromania was big.
Final meet the video, 6 new weapons (excluding the reskins and the equalizer split) at least one hat or misc for each class and a new game mode.
Seems big enough to me.
Hey guys, Cold Stream came out for L4D2 today, right?
Well, conveniently, L4D2 has been made into a game on demand today on 360.
Post I made on the GC.
You guys think this was a coincidence?
no, but the stark contrast between a major TF2 update and a major L4D2 update is pretty amazing to see.
Cold Stream officially launched today and there isn't so much as a blog post on L4D's blog. No ramp up comic or teaser pages, or anything. A quiet release on a tuesday afternoon that nobody would even know was the official release of a DLC if they weren't paying attention
shame valve doesn't support L4D with the same enthusiasm as TF2. The community is pretty much dead because of it.
I don't think anyone was honestly excited for cold stream. Anyone who I talked to that played the many beta versions said it was terrible.

Yes, but it says nothing about anything we've speculated about. We've been trying to tease out what's in the next update with all the tobor stuff.
Have to admit that the Cold Stream DLC took me by surprise, I completely forgot about it, but it's something nice to play tonight with my fellas I guess.
As for official info, there was a banner on the L4D Blog where The Sacrifice one was, it was quickly removed, but it lead to this 404 error page http://www.l4d.com/coldstream so maybe the blog is getting a post later today.
I'm trying to figure out where they could fit the tobor update in, considering we've got the saxxy still left to go. Then in October is Screamfortress and then December it's Smissmass.
now for the insufferable waiting
Funny how Huff's recent interview pretty much confirmed what I've been saying all along: the TF2 team is addicted to keeping secrets and springing surprises. So much so that they actively ignore the Beta.
I love a good surprise as much as the next fan, but oh how I wish Valve could find a way to include the community in some of their item stats testing/balancing.
From Huff:
He told me that hints on the new stuff will start on Thursday.
