I've really been trying to give Special Delivery a chance, but I just can't enjoy it. Engies and Scouts, engies and scouts. You either end up winning/losing in a matter of seconds, or both teams are horrible at actual teamwork and no one achieves anything for forty minutes. Here's hoping the new game mode suits my tastes a little better.
I am legit hyped for tomorrow and it could be nothing more than FireSlash asking why are goldfish not made of gold.
Does anyone else REALLY want the Meet the Pyro town to become a new map?
If this actually happened, it would become my all time favorite TF2 map.
We need someone to make a coy joke about the Loch-n-Load. I have a theory once they fix the LnL, then the Sharp Dresser will become the new weapon for ridicule. Remember, it still has that wonky arm floating there.
I don't think so because of the small amount of players who actually own the sharp dresser. In any case I'm hyping up for tomorrow.
yea, the weapons were super balanced, had no weird animation bugs, Pyroland was fun, and any looming bugs they fixed within a few weeks. Pyromania stands now as one of the least buggy and most balanced updates
There is just one thing that bothers me about that, though. Pyromania was very obviously a thrown-together update in order to tide us over. The ARG was a mess, the promotional material was rather hastily photoshopped from workshop images, and there was hardly any artwork to go with it. So... why was it so good? I'm worried that whatever this update is, be it MVM or what have you, may have been weakened by the Pyromania update. It seems like the Pyromania update could have been the better half of what was originally the BIG SUMMER UPDATE, but now that the better half is out, what else is left? I dunno, maybe I'm worrying too much.
I imagine at some point they'll accept a new Spy knife that uses those animations. Stylish Spy is too awesome to pass up.
Costs? The tour is free, I've gone like four times. I stopped accepting the swag bags on principle, though.
oh shit, really? actually, what do the swag bags contain?
what's the problem with the private eye?
there is nothing wrong with it it just th creator made an awesome update to it. like adding styles and shit. see for yourself http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=16224&searchtext=private+eye+update
I don't like the PE going all class. It works on the classes it's on now, and other than maybe Sniper, it just doesn't feel like a hat for those other classes
Any game mode that hinges on 1 person being in the right place at the right time is subject to being iffy when it's brought into a class-based game. Capture the Flag and Special Delivery both fall into those categories. Whoever holds the intel is the most important person on their team, and if they botch it, then the game will stagnate. Not to mention that it's a lot less formed as far as player objective goes -- do they go on offense? do they defend? do they deathmatch? There are a ton of options but unfortunately only having 2 focal points in the map (the intel home location and final destination) boil down into teams pitting their efforts on an all-out offense, an all-out defense (which is far far easier), or everyone scatters and just responds to what happens around them. Even Territory Control falls victim to this plight due to how quickly the control points capture, essentially making it feel similar to CTF where all that's needed for capturing is to stand on it for a couple seconds. Capture Point maps are designed with a variety of chokepoints and open areas to intentionally ease the ebb and flow of gameplay. CTF, SD, and TC don't have that sort of back and forth tug that 5cp maps have, but they do have the same chokepoints and open areas, which isn't that good for teamplay for those modes. I think that the addition of forward spawns and staggered spawns in CP gamemodes to be the most integral part of maintaining that ebb and flow -- the 3 problem modes I listed are a bit too amorphous to allow those kinds of mechanics to have a large impact without making a larger-than-intended impact in a bad way. I don't know if there is a solution to this. I think it's just a problem with Capture the Flag in general, be it in Quake, Team Fortress, or on a school playground. Territory Control just needs a rework, but it may be too late in the game's life cycle for the team to want to remake a game modes mechanics and rules.
Whoever holds the intel is the most important person on their team, and if they botch it, then the game will stagnate.
So many times I've seen a sniper with the australium on Doomsday just sitting around with no idea he has it.
