not if you're on SPUF or 4Chan They don't get what was going on.
If this is all bay raitt, i think he is damn improving on his editing and pacing skills. The way the baby heavy trips mid shot, the smash-cut to the real world and the build-up to false reveal on the pyro kicking the door are all solid film making techniques. This is one of the most technically produced film valve has made. In this respect, its better than Meet the medic in my book.
did anyone else find this very disturbing
Charple.mdl cameos!
I've seen so many fucking posts saying -snip- Pyro is none of those things. Anyone who got that from this video missed the point entirely. The point is that the pyro is completely insane to the point where he doesn't realize the damage he has been doing. Something scarred him so badly that he's reached this mental state. This was teased by the Sherlock Holmes quote about being none the wiser to the deeds of hellish cruelty.
His mask does say "Optical Mask" so, he could very well be tricked into seeing it, rather than having his mentality be that way.
Thanks Jared, for your input.
how do they not get it?
they see it literally as a movie about rainbows and unicorns and cotton candy. And not what was really going on in the video. You have to watch the video with some perspective as to what is happening that we can't see, and when you do, the video is anything but cute and fluffy
i think i figured it out pyros a fire shooting class in a vieo game
His mask does say "Optical Mask" so, he could very well be tricked into seeing it, rather than having his mentality be that way.
That would be even more depressing...
I think the most disturbing thing is none of it really translates into reality, despite how happy he is in his head it doesn't change how ruthless he is in reality, I mean he punched a hole right through soldier, locked medic in a burning building, jammed his fire axe into heavy's skull, and incinerated a sniper begging for his life.

what did my poor eyes just see...... ;_;
ISomething scarred him so badly that he's reached this mental state.
or its all the asbestos from his suit

WAIT THEY ALL MUST PLAY PYRO
did anyone else find this very disturbing
I found that there wasn't enough of it.

The directing was just fantastic.
or its all the asbestos from his suit
That falls under the "Pyro is on drugs/happy gas" category. Asbestos wouldn't do something like this.
The key to all this is not applying too much reality on to the TF2 universe. If you approach the movies with a dark comedy sensibility that is slightly more realistic than the Naked Gun movies, everything should make sense.
so when do we get "Do you believe in magic" as a title screen song?
This is one of the most technically produced film valve has made. In this respect, its better than Meet the medic in my book.
Agreed. I didn't really think about it that way until the second time I watched it, though. That's the thing for a lot of people, I think; it's just something that seemed really obvious. I admit to initially being somewhat disappointed that they went the route of the 4chan copypasta, but I can't imagine a better video. I do wish it had been longer, perhaps with more about each class's view of their teammate. Hopefully they'll release deleted scenes like they did with Meet the Medic. I'm frustrated by people who say "Welp, I'm done. Valve doesn't care anymore." I don't know much about modeling, but this one certainly took more work than the first few shorts. It's definitely on the same tier as Meet the Spy and Meet the Medic.

Wait, what does pyro see when he/she is trying to burn the comic in meet the medic?
Wait, what does pyro see when he/she is trying to burn the comic in meet the medic?
Probably reading a pop up book while making bubbles
Wait, what does pyro see when he/she is trying to burn the comic in meet the medic?
he thinks he's drawing pretty colorfull unicorns
http://www.teamfortress.com/truemeaning/?p=1 I wonder what Pyro sees during this.
I think I made a trend on tumblr. oh god my dashboard is flooded with likes and retweets
Wait, what does pyro see when he/she is trying to burn the comic in meet the medic?
I think they're using magic to bring the fairytales to life for all the angel babies.
I guess his visions vary. Maybe he doesn't literally see rainbowland, but sure feels like it when murdering...
Dangit, I need the ''reality-vision'' soundtrack.
I agree so hard I probably broke the rating button. The directing was just fantastic.
I think meet the medic is still the most enjoyable movie of them all. There is build-up, there is conflict and there is pay-off. At the end of the medic video, you root for the heavy and medic. What made that weak for me was the exposition from the medic at the operating room. That screwed the pace a bit. This pyro video though, the pace and build up is just right to give you an effect of dread by the end of the movie. Although there is virtually no pay-off to all that build up, that sense of dread lingers enough that you just don't care.
Wait, what does pyro see when he/she is trying to burn the comic in meet the medic?
if you want to read into MtP that much, i don't believe it's supposed to be a literal depiction of what pyro's seeing dude just loves killing shit
