It doesn't [I]need[/I] more, but I'm a fatty looking for a sugar rush right now. I've waited so long for the desert that I want more even after I've had my fill, because I'm not thinking in terms of what the story needs (insofar as the Meet the Team shorts are films worth this level of analysis). I think right now a lot of fans would have trouble tasting the lard even if the short were longer and oversaturated. Earlier in this thread, I compared it to music that gets less sublime the longer it goes on. The only reason I wish it was longer is because of the buildup it has had. The Meet the Team shorts got progressively longer as they were released (roughly, at least; I don't know their runtimes), so when I saw the runtime on the screen when I first loaded it, I did feel pangs of worry that it wouldn't meet expectations. That's the problem with Valve, I think: it's hard for them to meet expectations when there's so much hype built up during delays. Going a bit off-topic, I think that's probably one reason HL2e3 has taken them so long: a less than stellar ending to HL2 might have been fine years ago, but they've probably gotten caught in a cycle of rewrites trying to live up to the hype, which is always nearly impossible when fans come to expect perfection that lives up the freshness of earlier products. That was perfect; if anything, I saw a few too many puppies and rainbows. Anymore of that would have driven the joke into the ground. If it were longer, I would want it to feature more scenes of the Pyro operating in reality, or his teammate's conceptions of him. But like we've both said, it didn't need any of that. I wish less of the gore was implied and we saw more of the real violent scenes instead of the Pyro's insane perspective of them. About my earlier posts, just to clarify, I guess I made it sound like I don't get Meet the Pyro. I get it. I just thought it was funny they didn't show the gore upfront even though it was implied throughout the movie. I didn't realize what I was saying implied I didn't get the movie. My bad.
