I personally hope he doesn't get any of those items. If he does, I hope they're restricted to only some certain event, like halloween. It just feels too over the top for me.
we're getting those items.
But I think the weapons will work a little differently. You might not need to ever see them unless you equip them, if I'm thinking correctly about what they could do with them.
I forget how Solider, Heavy, and Scout kill the classes in their videos but to have 8 highly trained Mercenaries on a team be afraid of a single one was kinda too big of a logical gap.
soldier and heavy both didn't scare anyone in their videos, they just killed loads of people.
Soldier kills one of every class.
Heavy ends up on a battlefield, laughing.
Are you guys just dumb?
Who cares if it's a rainbow or not, it's a GAME.
I'm just saying, it'd be the first time I'd look at an item in TF2 and say, "wow, that is really fucking stupid."
There's stuff I don't really care for, like the Carouser's Capotain and the Battle Bob, but those are just cosmetics.
This is an item, taken from a hallucination, that kills people with rainbows.
I mean, it's not enough to make me stop playing, but I'll be soundly disappointed if that's the case.
Hopefully it still shoots fire (how would a rainbow-thrower even work? would it light people... on light?) or acts like the Griefblower (in that it's nothing but airblasts, which I can see considering it's a trumpet that shoots bubbles).
It's mostly because Pyro is just down right sinister, the fact that he doesn't talk feeds those thoughts, all of them are a bit on the crazy side, but Pyro is more psycho than crazy, that's why they're afraid.
Yeah. Also, he BURNS PEOPLE ALIVE, THEN LAUGHS ABOUT IT
we're getting those items.

Are you implying that valve might use v/w-models?
Everyone know that's just plain crazy.
Im thinking that maybe the dream items will be reskins of the stock weapons and that they only look like the dream weapons in first person, and to everyone else it will just be the standard stock weapons
I personally hope he doesn't get any of those items. If he does, I hope they're restricted to only some certain event, like halloween. It just feels too over the top for me.

Also! Because today's new items contain some Meet the Pyro spoilers, we're gonna hold off on announcing those until the update’s ready later today.
He will get them. There's no other option.

VALVe should remake meet the heavy since it was just a test and wasn't very interesting
A remake of all in the quality of mtp/mtm is welcome
Keep in mind the entirety of Blu team was unarmed, presumably not on duty and therefore not expecting Pyro to show up, and in a town made entirely out of old wooden shit.
They could have had nine Heavies and still be scared.
Scoot had a scattergun and Demo had his grenade launcher. Pretty sure soldier had his rockets at one point as well.
Fuck that, I'm marching in battle with my pet balloonicorn, rainbow thrower, bubblemaker, and lollipop axe.
I just hope everyone else sees those items as robro, the backburner, the flaregun and the axtinguisher.
So stats for the new flamethower.
i think should be vanilla but with a "on kill - victim is turned into balloonicorn"
we're getting those items.

Hopefully we're not getting only those items, right? A friend of mine has told me that someone spotted a Sergeant Plushie in the video.

I think there was a Meet the Heavy re-do that improved the quality. Don't quote me on that but I'm gonna check the wiki about it
I personally loved meet the heavy it was calm and nice for me.
You know, I think this is the first video in which the star isn't shown doing something heroric.
It's a pure massacre on a town of defenseless people.
Fits the pyro perfectly, have you ever seen them in the enemies spawn at the end of a round?
Are you implying that valve might use v/w-models?

I wonder if they could interesting stuff with LODs. Like have LOD 0 of the c_model be the view model, then LOD 1-whatever be the "real life" version, and then write in the code to force LOD 0 in view model, and force LOD 1 in world.
Or they could just use w/v, which would be the sane thing to do
Im thinking that maybe the dream items will be reskins of the stock weapons and that they only look like the dream weapons in first person, and to everyone else it will just be the standard stock weapons
I hope that is the case.
Demo has a Grenade launcher, soldier has a Rocket launcher and Engineer tries to build/builds a sentry.
I would imagine that they only got those partway through the attack. In game mechanics, he can reflect the grenades and launcher, and probably destroyed the sentry before it was up completely
So what does the pyro think its doing with the hadoken taunt? Shooting out rainbows?
Actually, that might be the new taunt.
The items could still have stats but look different in the world view if Valve would be willing to create two new models. I doubt they would do that, but they aren't restricted to either reskins or weapons with stats and only one model though.
GOD FUCKING DAMN IT VALVE, RELEASE THE UPDATE ALREADY
It's soon midnight here D:
[editline]27th June 2012[/editline]
What time is it in Valve's timezone?
Does anyone know when day three/update activation is going live?

You can see the demo running away with a grenade/sticky launcher at the start.

I remember reading there was such a version, but it was only for a EA PS3 Orange Box promo. Don't hold me to that though.

EDIT: Ninjas
Everyone being scared of Pyro makes a lot of sense because, as a player, his primary weapon is basically a tool for crowd control.
Practically any intelligent player starts either a.) backing away from or b.) attempting to quickly kill a flamethrowing pyro the moment he/she can. Soldier, Heavy, Demoman, Scout, etc. aren't so much scary as dangerous nuisances. But, because the Pyro does serious primary damage and afterburn damage, he's a very frightening class. People panic when they see a good Pyro. I think, therefore, Valve conveyed how players feel perfectly through the characters.
Huh?
It's the female gender symbol turned sideways.

If they wanted to display a model only to the Pyro player, they'd do it in the game code, not hack around with model and LOD settings.
