Will the medals 'age'? Like, if you've got bronze now, will you have silver in a year time or so?
i doubt
Why does Valve have to promote elitism so much? They should better implement some hack/idle/coop proof way of gaining those spoils through skill.
I like the bronze one.
There should be a platinum for those who pre-ordered. I do like the gold one though, mainly because it's shiny (that means it's better).

PLATINUM for beta tester, with some shiny particles arround like the community items. :3: Btw the Gold is the best, Silver is good, Bronze is more like chocolate.
I like Gold and silver equally.
I'm 90% sure I got silver. 10% I got gold.
Silver fits pretty well.
Prolly got bronze myself, not sure when i first played TF2, but I know I bought it in the bronze area. Personally I'd rather have a clear/glass medal
Bronze looks like some chocolate bar.
I like Bronze because it's the one I have and I'm not spoiled. I'm grateful I got something.
I like them all, but my favorite color is silver, so I voted silver. Pretty sure I didn't get silver, but who knows. I got the game in August '08.
Bronze looks like a chocolate cookie, Heavy would love it.
Why does Valve have to promote elitism so much? They should better implement some hack/idle/coop proof way of gaining those spoils through skill.
Valve already explained on the TF2 Blog why they don't award items depending on the players skill.
We're still thinking about how to allow you to influence your drops. When we see discussions on the forums, people often ask why we don't tie it to some in-game performance (like your scoreboard position, or number of kills, etc). Many players understand that if we did this, idle servers would simply change into servers running plugins that generate those in-game events frequently (as we saw in the Soldier & Demoman WAR!). There's another side of it that we care about just as much, which is the message it would send to all the players who don't want to idle. Any in-game performance metric we chose would result in there being specific maps, classes, tactics, and so on that resulted in more drops. We really don't want that to happen. When it's simply playtime, you're free to play the game however you like. If you love Payload, you can play Payload maps without worrying about whether you're earning less drops than the guys playing Arena maps. Community mapmakers don't have to worry about whether their maps earn item drops fast enough. Similarly, server operators can configure their servers however they like, without worrying about reducing the rate at which their players are earning drops. In short, while it's far from perfect, not tying to in-game performance is a lot less poisonous to your minute-to-minute game experience.
Besides, I don't see how awarding stuff depending on skills would not generate elitism.
Gold is the shiniest and rarest. Who wouldn't love it?
Gold is the shiniest and rarest. Who wouldn't love it?
People who don't have it?
Wow, looks like they didn't apply that envmap to the bronze medal. Chocolate badges anyone? :chef:
Bronze isn't shiny like other too. I missed silver by 4 months. :frown:
Damn, I can't connect to Steam for some reason so I can't see my loadout :argh:
No servers are connected to steam for me, what the hell i want my medal
I'll have to go with bronze, as it's the only one I'm getting. I would have silver if my old Steam account didn't get banned.
What they fixed it an rereleased them to everyone already?
How can I check when I bought tf2?
How can I check when I bought tf2?
By reading the first page
Can there be a 'I think they all look bad" option? This is gonna be like the whole gibus/halo thing, everyone is gonna have them. Sure, its ok seeing it once in a while. But not EVERY SINGE KILL CAM.
By reading the first page
What if it doesn't appear on my account page? It shows up on the list of games, but not list of purchases.
I find it funny that the bronze medal has absolutely NO shine, hence making it a chocolate bar.
I think the silver one is better just because of its name: Grizzled Veteran sounds kinda dumb. Soldier of Fortune sounds sweet.
Tf2 updated, you'll now recieve your medals. They renamed WeekendWarrior to Mercenary. I think that isn't as good as weekend warrior. I was 2 months from the cut off for silver, I think.
Gold. I was so happy when it popped up in the chat box. But now 'hater's gonna hate' and people with gold will be persecuted, just like Halo wearers... All these years, I have hated halos and now... I have become a stigma myself. Oh the irony ;A;
1.27.08 Bronze
