Things you like in TF2 that everyone else hates: Bandwagons are for Squares

Good times, good times.
I never thought people hate the Medi-Mask.
I like to use it with Surgeon's Stahlhelm, and voila, your Medic now looks like he's from TFC.
The Noble Amassment of Hats is my favorite of the 3. The billycock isn't enough and the boater (or whatever it's called) is too much.
Using paints and misc items that are very subtle.
I for example often use paints that are almost identical to the default color of an item, but still has a subtle difference I think looks better. I also often try and use paints to make the cosmetics match the character's default equipment, like making the stove pipe band match Demoman's nade belt, or making the Made Man match the balaclava and Frenchman's beret.
Rather than painting your hat the EXACT SAME COLOUR AS YOUR EFFECT, I like to paint it a lighter and softer tone of the effect to accentuate it. For example, a purple energy Trilby, instead of painting it Pink As All Fuck you paint it Paint No. 213, and BLAMMO you have a beautiful Effect.
Voodoo Juju? I hear some people hate it, but I like it on pyro.
People don't dislike using it, they dislike playing against it.
I play gunslinger Engineer pretty frequently, by the way. It's lovely; it's like a combat class that can build teleporters and dispensers.
Hnngh, pet peeve.
'Straight upgrade' is not the same thing as 'better weapon'.
There are a bunch of Soldier melees people generally consider more useful than the Shovel, but not a single straight upgrade. The Fire Axe does admittedly have a straight upgrade in the Third degree, but that too is considered one of the less useful Pyro melee by most.
The Escape Plan is considerably a straight upgrade, as it does the same damage as the shovel and allows your speed to increase.
It's debatable that the medics being unable to heal you with the escape plan out is a downside or not, as they'd decrease your speed bonus when healing you.

It DOES have that no Medic healing thing, but unless your hands panic like a massage chair, it's not hard to switch between weapons.
Some Soldiers think it's a good idea to melee sentries while ubered as well.

The escape plan's downside is so painful with beggar's bazooka.
You see, using anything other than gunboats with it is... Not exactly effective.
And you know, bazooka eats through ammo extremely fast. And when you run out of ammo and forget to hold down M1, you automatically switch to escape plan and can't switch back, confusing the hell out of medics. Imagine a fully overhealed soldier suddenly taking out his escape plan and going for a medkit (or that's what most medics think, there's almost always an ammo pack next to it) while there's no real threat ahead.

Damn, I forgot about what happens if you're using a passive secondary and run out of ammo.
Also there's a glitch that let's you heal Equalizer/Escape Plan Soldiers with the Crossbow :v:

i usually only do that if my rocket launcher is out of rockets that whys sticking to the stock shovel is pretty useful
Speaking of stock Soldier stuff. I've recently grown to love my strange-stocked Solly, complete with stock-looking cosmetics that don't ruin his design.

I still don't think the botkiller fits in. Also, the only other item that I think would complete the look perfectly, would be replacing the FDU with the service medal (I know it ain't cheap though).

I guess I'm a little lazy in that regard. Don't want to go out in search of a strange RL when I technically already have one.
As for the medal... That can be arranged. I take it you want it to be more like this?

I have a spare strange RL that I haven't been able to trade away yet, would you like to have it?
Be quick about it though, I have to go to bed very soon.
I'm not ashamed to admit I W+M1 a lot with my Backburner setup.
Sometimes, all you need to break a stalemate, or to turn the tide of an offensive is a good W+M1. Besides, it's not like that's my only tactic. I often go for the behind crits, and use it so that I don't need to use the Axetinguisher, instead using my newly traded-for S. Homewrecker.
speaking of pyro melees
im a serial rakist

I dunno, IMO that's like saying you're guaranteed to kill a guy if you chase him with a live grenade in your hand.
