NOPE. If you look back, only some of the hats were the original 9. Others were the Tyrant's Helm, Respectless Rubber Glove, Glengarry Bonnet, Texas Ten-Galleon and Professional's Panama.
There must be a update coming.

Welp, there goes my dream of getting a Sunbeams Mining Light. It was hard enough as it was, but now, I might as well give up. First the Golden Wrench, now this...I'm beginning to think Valve hates me for loving the Engineer class so much.

This is the only decision besides the idlecaust that has legitimately upset me. I'm not going to quit playing TF2, or complain all day, but I do think it's an odd decision, and I would rather it wouldn't happen. It's just really fuckin' lame, no matter the reasoning.

I've given up hope after 2 years, it's like they're rubbing it in our faces with the latest GL, has animations that sync up, grenades that don't show up after death, and is overall a nicely put together weapon.

Suppose you are right. TF2 has gotten objectively worse through the introduction of items and cosmetics. At any given time there are at least thirty thousand people playing team fortress 2. If even 1% of them agree with you, there are 300 people at any given who will want to play on a vanilla server. Not 300 people in a day, 300 people at every hour of every day.
Your vanilla server would have a waiting line! You could make a profit from ads!

Soundtrack box will contain the 9 deleted hats but only for your portal 2 robots.
I just don't see any reason to complain, they're just cosmetics. Sure, tehy could've done better things with their time, I agree completely. But saying "I'm going to kill myself and cry" and shit is just... jesus christ people.

the worst part of this is the that you can't uncrate unusuals of them. So now you can never uncrate a funny fro unusual or a god tier fedora unusual
So the excuse of "but there are a million of those hats" does not apply here
also people will be jacking up all Valve made hats by claiming they will be retired. Then they apply the same logic to unusuals
As much as I enjoy Saxton Hale letterhead, an actual justification would have been nice.
It's obvious they are cannibalising these items to muck about with the market beta. Being transparent in their reasoning and describing their goals would go a long way. LOL STINKY MAYONAISE can only get you so far.

I am probably the hardcoriest of the hardcore valve fanboys and I'm staunchly against this
I've bought every NECA product related to Valve (I just pre-ordered the Gravity Gun too) but this is fucking ridonkulous
Fedora, Trophy Belt and Stash are one of, if not the best hats in the game.
I can only regret letting my v. Fedora and V. Stash go but I won't give up my V. Belt. No amount of crappy Saxton Hale jokes can make me realise this whole update is a good idea.

The only reason I could think of them doing this is to see how it affects the hat economy and more importantly the community market. I'm fine with it if it's just experimentation (as long as they share the results somewhere down the line) but they better not do it again. It's not like there aren't a gorrillion copies of each of those hats floating around in the trade market anyway.
