• Blog Post: Kiss these Items Goodbye!

This thread is just insanity. 1. These are virtual cosmetic items, they have no effect on gameplay nor do they have any material value. 2. If you actually wanted these hats, you could have traded/bought them any time in the last three years. 3. These hats are still available (for the next couple weeks) so if you REALLY REALLY need them you can still buy or craft them. 4. If you have any emotional attachment at all to these virtual cosmetic items and currently feel betrayed or insulted that Valve is making several of them harder to obtain, you clearly value your TF2 inventory very much. Valve will lose no customers. Since so many of you are stirred to action from Valve removing these hats, this 'experiment' is going to very likely be considered a success. The only people who have any reason at all to complain are people with unusuals who fear harassment from traders.
This thread is just insanity. 1. These are virtual cosmetic items, they have no effect on gameplay nor do they have any material value.
That no longer applies because most virtual items in this game can sell for quite a bit of money
Some people spend a lot of money on their inventorys, they have the right to be attached to them.
Agreed I actually have a fetish for my unusuals. The flies buzzing around my hats cause a testicacular pleasure in my lower region. Without hats I don't think I'd be anywhere in life. I finger myself constantly to my flies coupe. Oh my god heavy with flies is the cutest thing :3
I guess I'm suddenly rich now or something 'cuz I have a few of these hats in Vintage quality. Should I bother doing something with them?
What a shitstorm. It's almost like I'm reading SPUF.
What a shitstorm. It's almost like I'm reading SPUF.
i dont even want to know what spuf looks like right now
Should I bother doing something with them?
Keep and cherish them. Or at the very least, if you just want the hats but want to make some profit, sell them, then buy the Unique variants.
The Fancy Fedora was my first hat when I first started, Some random guy added me when I was playing and said I was doing great as spy and needed a better hat then a gibus to show for it. I am not sure what happened to it, but I need to reget one.
I really hope that they do another blog post saying "We found the original blueprints for the hats we thought we lost, so we can mass-produce them again. Hell, we'll even have a sale on said hats to celebrate!".
The only good I can see from this is that now there are nine less hats one can get from crafting and drops, paving way for the newer (and to be frank, more interesting) content from the community.

Good times.
I bet SPUF planned all of this.[editline]11th January 2013[/editline]
I really hope that they do another blog post saying "We found the original blueprints for the hats we thought we lost, so we can mass-produce them again. Well, even more reason to never sell my Soldiers stash. Though now I'm curious how many people will hunt me down to buy it.
I'm so glad I have this right now. http://tf2b.com/tf2/item/totallynotmyprofile/1127285289
Remember when crafting class hats was actually a viable option for having a good 25-33% chance of getting your favorite hat for a specific class? Good times.
Good old times when you use 4 refiend and a class token for that pyro beanie. Yeah, good old times....
Right when I decided to try to get a Demoman's Fro...
Just snagged a Lv13 dirty fedora for 1 rec. Good times.
Yeah, the Fro is an item I've always wanted, but gotten sidetracked on the way to do so. So unfortunate.
i miss when hats were add-ons to hats classes already wore, like engi's, sniper's and soldier's old hats. though that is the reason why i like the soldier helmet with a rocket sticking out of it so much.

That is pretty pathetic imo.

It seems like a strange idea by Valve, I don't think they should go through with it. However, it probably won't matter that much in the long run. There's a pretty large amount of these hats around already, so the prices will probably not be affected much unless you like to trade unusuals. I think people are overreacting a little bit, they're just cosmetic items at the end of the day.
Next they should do the same with the gibbus.
Everyone is over-reacting as shit. http://stats.tf/item/47/Demoman%27s_Fro There are literally 45,000 Fros around right now, 16,000 of which are vintage. They're by no means in short supply and will likely only go up by a rec or something once the dump-ass traders are done freaking out.
Once again. That's not the fucking point. The point is they're wasting time doing this for no reason when otherwise they could be fixing things, or putting in NEW content. This will change nothing and is just absolutely pointless.
