They weren't being serious with that blog post <_<
They did it because "why not" and because it gets them additional revenue from people buying more of those hats from the store.

but we decided to sell a completely new line of hats; nine unique hats that have a scratch-and-sniff mayonnaise smell"
and theyre just the same old hats with mayonnaise and raccoon scratches all over them, and the original hats all become vintage

Yes, bald ones is still in store, plus I noticed that they raised price on them. Some time ago each "bald" hat costed around $0.99, but then they high-priced them, now they cost $4.99.

They can be used for crafting now, so they had to raise the prices of all cheap hats to 5 bucks a pop to reduce people just buying a shit ton of them and crafting them to get better hats.

People waited for around 12 years for TF2 to release, 6 years for EP3 isn't as long. Besides, there are good reasons they haven't shown anything of Episode 3 yet and the community doesn't decide what Valve does. Lots of people like hats, i've seen lots of people saying they want a Valve console and i'm sure a large amount of people wanted Dota 2. You not wanting them doesn't mean no one wanted them. Thinking that Valve are "money suckers and community face spitters" for updating their games and not having pay to win stuff like other companies is stupid. Would you prefer it if Dota 2 cost £30 instead of being free with OPTIONAL cosmetic items?
