Fuck this. Those hats are fucking awesome! All the 12 year old traders are already jacking up the price. Lucky for me though, a long time ago a guy traded me a Vintage Demo Fro for a Bison. He knew the price and even laughed about it later as people raged at our trade. I cashed out recently but kept a few knick knack items that I still enjoy. One of em was the V.Demo Fro and this was [I]one[/I] day before this announcement took place. Phew. I also wanted a Soldiers Stash, I ended overpaying BIG time for a Vintage one lvl99. No harm in overpaying for items you genuinely want, but please don't ask the amount I paid for that V.Stash. I snagged it quick, because well, you snooze you lose ... had to grab it quick before the price gets jacked up even more. I guarantee you they made a tonne of sales of those hats in the store. The butt-hurt shit storm will be bigger if they actually turn back on this decision. - Making customers spend cash on hats due to this announcement then going "lol jk" could be legitimately labelled as a scam. Who knows, sales could've already reached in the thousands in Mann Co. That's Valve profiteering off misrepresentation. Eligible for legal action. - People have already swarmed for these items in trading, overpaying (Such as myself but I personally don't really give a shit, the stash is for keeps). Even though most of these people most likely didn't spend cash, the butt-hurt rage will be immense once they find out they overpaid and can't re-sell. Basically, a large amount of the population will be at a loss if they turn their back on this decision, both financially and normal in-game trading. This will cause more damage than just going through with this decision.

Guys. Calm down. This isn't really a big thing. Sure, 9 hats will soon no longer be able to be gotten through crafting, purchasing, etc... It's not something to get worked over. Yeah, I like Trophy Belt, Soldiers Stash and the Fancy Fedora, but I'm not that angry. All of the metal inflation that's been going on is gonna stop now, because people are gonna go "oh, crud! hats are going! CRAFT CRAFT CRAFT!". If you missed your chance then suck it up, you pay insane amounts for a hat with an effect added, or a simple blue font because it was crafted with 30% more metal. There's already some better hats out there, and similar ones that are just as great. The Hat of Cards is just like the Fancy Fedora, except "fancier" and lacking the finby-style. Seriously, with less metal in circulation after this it's gonna be better. Prices will go down, because you don't have people with 60 Ref in their backpacks everywhere lowering the over-all value. It may possibly highten the cost, but if so only temporarily.

Why did I bother selling my Batter's Helmet. Despite being uncraftable, they're still worth it.

I've got one of each of these hats, most craftable and one of them vintage. I can't wait to sell them to F2P's

And you're not helping your "don't insult" case by insulting people. On topic, rip hats. Some of you did good. Not "spend a key to unbox one" good, but "yeah I'd wear that I guess" good.

So they took out the most affordable but kinda decent looking scout hat, one of the best soldier hats, one of the most cheap but still decent demoman hats, a good medic hat, the best sniper hat that was underappreciated and pretty cheap and the arguably best spy hat. I can understand taking out the unique ones but there is no reason to discontinue the unusual versions. You can call me entitled, since valve owes us nothing but sometimes they love to fuck us over. No one cares about the beanie and football helmet but the other hats were, except the burning stash, pretty inexpensive but good looking alternatives to other expensive hats. Now greedy irrational traders will make the prices shoot up. Instead they should have discontinued 2nd gen effects. The market is exploding with them. Here is a brand new hat: [url]http://stats.tf/item/981/The_Cold_Killer[/url]. Look at those effects. Not one 1st gen effect but only 2nd gen effects were unboxed. And in big quantities. Barely anybody likes these effects because they look awful and lowers of the old effects like me have to wait a long time until a new hat with them gets unboxed. If not discontinue they should at least drastically lower their unbox rate.
