is this an attitude to have when running a game that requires players to profit? To "quit playing" as an answer. The response to this has been overwhelmingly negative on every source of TF2 news I could find. Them deciding to burn their undo bridge seems incredibly foolish, they only stand to lose from this as it's an unneeded ripple in a stable market structure.
tf2 does not have a stable market structure
Fire whole TF2 team, hire decent people or get DoTA 2 team to work on it sometimes.
Things like this make me wish that Gabe Newell actually doesn't get any information about Tf2's current state, and that one day when he'll realize what direction it's headed and will just stop it. Then he will move everyone form the current team away and create a big dedicated team that will fix most if not all what's broken. But alas I know that's not possible.
And like I said, valve could just rotate discontinued hats, start selling them again for a while as they deem appropriate, or just decide that this whole thing was stupid and undo it. It's not all doom and gloom :v:
God dammit Soldier getting your raccoon shit everywhere now we're losing some great hats
tf2 does not have a stable market structure
This is mostly about item distribution in-game, not outside places like the spreadsheet. There's always three ways to get items, and that's stable, easy to understand and simple.
Also, anyone thats going to bother complaining at the TF2 team they won't revert things for these items, they might not do it in the future, but i haven't seen them ever fix their fuck-ups.
OH MY DEAR GOD A BUSINESS IS TRYING TO MAKE MONEY RUN TO THE HILLS
Yeah because TF2 is doing so badly money-wise huh?
you know what else is gonna shoot up, all the variants of these hats like the robo fedora, and the bonk helm.
you know what else is gonna shoot up, all the variants of these hats like the robo fedora, and the bonk helm.
Not really, since they can still be found and crafted.
I can't wait to get my hands on a Vintage Vintage Vintage Tyrolean.
An Antivintage/Unvintage Vintage Tyrolean should just be a Tyrolean :v:
I'm actually wondering if valve thinks people will panic buy, there's so many of these in the game it won't matter. This is rather pointless.
it would be cool if they retired mvm hats instead, cause that might actually make sense.
It's only obvious now that the primary aspect of the game is it's economy. The game itself is no longer a priority.
It's only obvious now that the primary aspect of the game is it's economy. The game itself is no longer a priority.
we got a few changes and bugfixes just yesterday though.
Not really, since they can still be found and crafted.
Well not higher but they'll try getting closest to they can to the hat by just getting similar versions.
The only bright-side to this is that more people who wanted the Fancy Fedora will be more likely to buy Ayesdyef's Fedora.
Wow Valve, this is a bad move on your part.
This is mostly about item distribution in-game, not outside places like the spreadsheet. There's always three ways to get items, and that's stable, easy to understand and simple.
I think your definition of stable market structure and mine vary widely, yours is more relevant here for sure though. I was thinking more in terms of economics of the market, not a more 'physical' structure of the market, how items come in to existence and how they are manipulated thereafter I think is what you're getting at.
If they allow those hats on the Steam Market afterwards, I'm going to complain like hell. They're taking away average-good hats that still sells so more people will buy them, and then if they allow those on the market, they will get both the transaction and TF2 Fee. Given the current state of TF2, this was completely uncalled for. You can't deny that.
tbh, All hats are just pixels...
The problem is, they are the original 9 hats, 9 hats who fitted in the game, 9 simple and good hats. They just removed TF2 history.
Oh god. Time to use "Block trade requests".
Given the current state of TF2, this was completely uncalled for. You can't deny that.
Huh? How do you mean?
And here I was, hoping those hats eventually became achievement hats for getting all the class achievements...
It's like the TF2 Team wants us to hate them
Huh? How do you mean?
TF2 is making Valve a lot of money. Thus the attempt to make more money through expiring items is uncalled for.
Soon they're gonna start removing classes and maps

I can agree in being able to sell usable items and would be nice if they added a way to sell in game currency (Spiral Knights is the only one i think its possible to do this), but letting people sell shit with any price over 200$ is stupid.
This isn't like valve
