I found out about this just before I bought L4D2, and thought "Nice, an extra hat for TF2". I bought the game because I wanted the game, not the hat.
Would be awesome if they had given Bill's hat to all the people who bought L4D1, and Ellis' cap to those who pre-ordered L4D2 :D Anyways, i'm happy.

Open up your backpack and see if it's in there anyway. That's what happened to me.
The "X has found: Bill's Hat" message showed up after I equipped it on the classes I wanted to wear it.

You do, got mine gifted through a friend because there were some issues with my credit card. Paid them back with cash afterward, Steam really hates the internet connection at my dorm.

I've stopped caring about hats at this point. Yeah, I love my Gibus and Bill's Hat, but other than that, they're just cosmetic. It's not that big of a deal.
