with the new map, say good bye to cartoony 60's.
Because china didnt exist in the 60's.
you are all forgetting oddjob...though I should REALLY watch a bond film before making this statement
Because china didnt exist in the 60's.
no, modern cityscapes away from the dusty climes of badlands shouldn't exist in the TF2 universe.
The heavy can now spycheck with the new mini-gun. He could defend a sentry/dispenser set up pretty well.
Unless, you know, the spy could just bum-rush you and backstab you, fire damage be damned. I had that sort of thing happen to me earlier today.
Unless, you know, the spy could just bum-rush you and backstab you, fire damage be damned. A spy-cicle spy won't be able to stab you unless he drops down and crouch-stabs as he falls.
no, modern cityscapes away from the dusty climes of badlands shouldn't exist in the TF2 universe.
why not? It's not at all away from the spy theme. Actually it's closer to the spy theme.
no, modern cityscapes away from the dusty climes of badlands shouldn't exist in the TF2 universe.
I bet meet the spy pissed you off.
with the new map, say good bye to cartoony 60's.
Do you mean modern as in after 1960s? I'm no historian, but the map looks fine to me. Its hard to say what the map will end up being like judging from the small dark picture on the triad pack page and the puzzle picture, but what is in those picture doesn't scream post 1960s. As for being a cityscape I'm fine with that as well. I see it as an opportunity for a greater exploration of the espionage themes within TF2.
Urban map in TF2 is going to be interesting.
It's gorgeous. I can't get over how incredible it looks. Edit:
My god, this is honestly makes Pyromania look like a throwaway update way cooler shit here
This is quite possibly the best compliment we could've received. I think I speak for everyone when I say "thank you."
This is quite possibly the best compliment we could've received. I think I speak for everyone when I say "thank you."
No but that's for real, Pyromania is really shit compared to this.
It's gorgeous. I can't get over how incredible it looks. Edit: This is quite possibly the best compliment we could've received. I think I speak for everyone when I say "thank you."
I hope you guys have something else in the pipes.

I really want the new map to have clues for an upcoming update, like the last 3 maps did, and as testinglol suggested (although didn't confirm)
The new Minigun should release a ring of fire for 6 ammo or so on alt fire, but be unable to spin without firing. Balanced!
The new Minigun should release a ring of fire for 6 ammo or so on alt fire, but be unable to spin without firing. Balanced!
Then you can just tap primary fire to keep yourself spun up with no ammo cost and without requiring the ring of fire ammo consumption. Ludmilla had this problem as well back in 2008. There were reasons why it was replaced by Natascha. The power it had when paired with a Medic was not the only issue.
is it still gorgeous for someone like me on dx8 and all details/decals turned off via cfg? :rainbows:
No idea. Sorry. :(
I must say these are fairly disturbing. >trade server >ugly, disgusting mods >stock HUD so much wrong with one post
I actually think the femgineer looks good.
for those claiming soho's out of tf2's time period here's a fantastic picture of a chinatown taken in 1965 [img_thumb]http://vancouverisawesome.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/04/unknown.jpeg[/img_thumb] Not far off. is it?
>trade server >ugly, disgusting mods >stock HUD so much wrong with one post
Did you just call ChemicalAlia's female class mods disgusting? You're disgusting. Disgustingly rude that is. Additionally I'm sure the vast majority of TF2 players use the stock hud, including myself.
for those claiming soho's out of tf2's time period here's a fantastic picture of a chinatown taken in 1965 [img_thumb]http://vancouverisawesome.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/04/unknown.jpeg[/img_thumb] Not far off. is it?
It's not that it can't logically exist, it's just radically different from the rest of the game being that it's urban instead of rural and doesn't look like part of America.

TF2 battlefields were placed in desolate locations such that player attention remains within the boundaries of the map. Excluding easter eggs, areas beyond the fences are plain and boring so that players don't feel an interest in what is out there. In addition, the enclosed areas aren't as decorated as a city is, as such, they are easily navigated by the self explanatory arrows and signs, with not enough detail to distract from gameplay but just enough detail to make them aesthetically pleasing. An urban landscape is typically not boring beyond map boundaries and certainly has a lot of attention-drawing details, I'm unsure on how I feel on that being in an official tf2 map, but I trust 3dnj's ability to pull that kind of thing off if it is possible.
>trade server >ugly, disgusting mods >stock HUD so much wrong with one post
Oh no! Not the STOCK HUD?! What are you?! some kind of scrub noob?! OMG. No, fuck you. I like the HUD.
>trade server >ugly, disgusting mods >stock HUD so much wrong with one post
what's wrong with stock hud? :(
what's wrong with stock hud? :(
It has a lot of clutter.
>trade server >ugly, disgusting mods >stock HUD so much wrong with one post
The only mods I can see in there that're ugly or disgusting are the female Pyro and the black wristbands, all of Alia's work is extremely well made, although the Heavy could do with a remake at some point. What's wrong with the stock HUD, anyway?
It has a lot of clutter.
It has a lot of valid information
