Obviously a propeller on the back will have SOME aid in the art of rocket-jumping. (Think about TF2's wacky mechanics, and you will see that a propeller rocket launcher will make sense!) A weapon like this could make a gunboats combo strategy, and a cool one at that.

I could just see the stats for this thing including "Alt Fire to float in the air." DEATH FROM THE SKIES!
Yeah, the intention was that this rocket launcher would be a more aerial-based rocket launcher and a perfect match for the gunboats. I was thinking increased damage while in the air, but reduced damage while on the ground or something.
Any chance of seeing that beautiful propeller animated? At least when he fires a rocket?
I had intended to put some jigglebones on there so the propeller would spin around and stuff while moving around and firing, but...
It never looks good
Any suggestions on how I could get the propeller to move around without looking like crap, Neo? Would I have to animate it or is there some way to get it looking good with jigglebones? And yeah, I need some suggestions for names for this thing. I initially named it the Screamin' Eagle, as I had the idea of making it more of an airborne-themed rocket launcher, but now that it's more aviation based, I think it needs something less generic and overdone (I guarantee there's like 5 fan-made soldier weapons already with the name Screamin' Eagle). Some of the suggestions people gave here are pretty good, but none of them stand out. I want some clever play on words or a name related to WWII aviation or something. Two possibilities I considered: - The Liberator (Name comes from the C-87 Liberator, a World War II bomber, also fits in to the Soldier's delusions that he was liberating Europe single-handedly in his insane campaign through Poland in 1949) - The Widowmaker (Another bomber name, this time from the B-29) I also know that a common nickname among pilots in WWII for the P-59 Mustang was the "Peter-Dash-Flash". I'm trying to think of a clever pun or something with that.
[img_thumb]http://i46.tinypic.com/200snf9.png[/img_thumb] Gonna make RED now.
why is your baseball cap half an inch thick
Why not.
Why not.
Because it looks weird?
Thick, lumpy, low-res. Step back a bit.
The hat isn't all that good at the moment for me. Suggestion, make the hat thinner so it looks fitted, and then smooth it like a real hat. After that, just bump up the texture resolution and it will be perfect.
It's for the polycount contest, so the resolution has to be 256x256.
[img_thumb]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/49917/models/RibStickerPromo.png[/img_thumb] I'll leave you guys alone now.
Not without a release you won't. :argh:
It's tiny. And that annoys me.
It's tiny. And that annoys me.
ha, i caught your addition :D
[img_thumb]http://img693.imageshack.us/img693/8182/manncowatchratings.png[/img_thumb]
I'd say no logos at all. Also, will it have numbers for cloak left instead of bars? Because that would be cool.
why is your baseball cap half an inch thick
name one thing that is realistic in tf2 On a side note, I tried adding white to it, which made it look bad: :psyduck: So maybe sticking to the original and adding a few last touches to it will fix it.

Cmon fix the issues I pointed out
Decided to put a propeller on the back and reduce the poly count. Weighs in at just about 5,542 now. I think it turned out pretty good. [img_thumb]http://img202.imageshack.us/img202/5337/53110renderv2.jpg[/img_thumb]
you should name it the "Stallion"
Honestly, it's barely useful.. unless you'd be shooting faster. Around 55-68 damage per shot at point blank-medium ranges, 3 shots would give us around 165-204 damage, enough to kill most of classes.. but then you must be pretty accurate to deal any damage. If not, scout with scattergun could wipe you out faster.
The rate of fire is very fast, sorry forgot to mention that, could always up the damage on the gun, those aren't exact figures by the way I was hoping for some criticism on them.
Thick, lumpy, low-res. Step back a bit.
Thick: Easy to fix. Lumpy: Easy to fix. Low-Res: You mean the emblem? GIMP is bad at handling scaling and turns the images low-res. If you could find me a smaller Red & Blu Scout emblem, I would be happy to replace them :v: Otherwise:
all the melee weapons are realistic.
Are you done with the taser yet? and no I won't stop bothering you until you send the files to me :)
It's tiny. And that annoys me.
Soldier does not have to compensate for anything WOO HOO HOO HOOO.

Also, I think the emblem would look better on the front of the hat, like a traditional baseball cap.

But can you make it juuustt a bit smaller? :3: And as for placing it in the traditional spot, I would if I had a better image editing program. I don't think GIMP would allow me to butcher an image that much because of where the seam is, causing the map to split. I'd need to do some serious editing for each side, and that would be too much work to handle :v: Anyways, here's some progress (with less bumps and less thickness):
Just noticed the propeller blades were way too thin, made them slightly thicker. [img_thumb]http://img686.imageshack.us/img686/3595/53110renderv2f.jpg[/img_thumb]
The Blast Bazooka: The combination fan- and fuel-powered rocket propulsion mechanism fires even the bulky rockets that come with this pain pipe. It might take a bit of propeller windup time to fire, but there's a promised earth-shattering kaboom at wherever you decide to point. Just don't point it too far, as the heavy-duty man-gibbers that this thing fires tend to lose altitude and speed as they reach far-off destinations. -OR- The Draft Dodger: You surely got your respect from so-called "REAL" military members long ago, what with you showing them up at every possible turn. You just can't help but think some air force member out there witnessed you take a CIVILIAN AIRCRAFT to the fray. Snuff out any thought that you are not the PERFECT SOLDIER with this portable airborne storm cloud of suffering! The Draft Dodger has a fighter plane's propeller attached to the aft end, allowing the weapon to launch rockets with both AIR and ROCKET FUEL, although the propeller takes a short time to prepare. And if you should ever feel like showing those FLYBOY PANSIES how a REAL MAN soars, alt-fire during your rocket jumps to activate the propeller for an extended descent over the battlefield! After all, this is YOUR WORLD, and you own the SKY ABOVE IT! Now all you need to do is get your hands on a bazooka made out of a submarine's periscope! For more detail, I suggest part of a wing on the light gray metal in the middle. With the snarling face you planned for the front, the wing fragment would look like a fin on a shark.
why don't you just REDO THE UV MAP? it saves the quality of the picture, and it's good practice
That would be like the 3rd time redoing the UV Map :crying: I've been working on this for awhile now, maybe I should move on to my other items and finish this one up later.
GIMP is bad at handling scaling and turns the images low-res.
Not really. I made the entire texture and promo image for the Rib Sticker in GIMP. Pro tip: Don't use the Cubic option in the scaling menu.
