Will we be getting our hands on these Polycount contest creations?
If I don't win (which I probably won't), I'll try submitting it to valve and releasing it here at the same time.

Uhhh guys, how do you deselect in 3ds Max, as in when in any selection mode using the Editable Poly modifier, how would you go about deselecting.

Pyro's trophygun?
While a bit complex for TF2, I'm really liking it. Just remove the buff banner from the front, and add a bit more weight to the handle. I don't know how the hell the pyro would carry that thing around as is rofl.

I don't think tacking random shit on custom Engineer weapons is that great. The Engineer is a man of sensibility and efficiency, so I think his weapons would only have what's necessary and nothing more. He also doesn't seem like the kind of person who likes having the wiring sticking out of his weapons.

I don't really like it either. I also never got into the trophy gun. I just don't like mashups I guess.
Ok, I've finally gotten around to using 3DS Max for the Trophy Gun view models. Still learning the editing controls, but I'm already encountering issues with materials. I added the material folders to the external data path (window comes up when rendering), but it still ignored UV mapping. To fix I had to open each sub material and toggle the mapping away and back to "Explicit Map Channel," which got the job done but is pretty tedious with 11 materials. Any way to automate this? Also, how do you select a specific sub-material from the mesh? The material picker only works per-object. Also, it looks whited out in renders. Fiddling with the render and material settings hasn't yielded any improvement. It gives the AO the grainy look that Valve uses. Also I use the AO to overlay on to my base texture map, and then just adjust the opacity based on how light or dark I need it. I don't have a very good imagination. This was a concept someone else made. Whatever I make, people berate and say looks bad, which is why I don't show much of my work here. Or at all. :c
