Am I the only one that reads Valve VA - L - VE?
Guessing that it's because English is not my first language.
Vahlvey?
Actually, the past few updates have been the best Valve have done.
valve needs to playtest their shit, it gets annoying to have really OBVIOUS THINGS come up
like the fucking spies that looked like they were ubered
the ubersaw that had the white texture
the teleporters that looked like both ends were functional even when one end had been destroyed (which stayed unpatched for like a month)
the broken rocket jumps
I mean jesus christ how do they not come across this shit when they playtest? Honestly. I can get not noticing some of the more complicated exploits like the airblast spam, but fuck
I wouldnt mind if they slowed down. I have a life and some people who think they need these updates as quickly as they are need to get out and enjoy the sun... MR SUN!
You guys are lucky. How many years for the xbox with no update for anything?
Why did you bump this, seriously?
Didn't even realize how old this thread was.
No.
I love all the updates and if you rated OP agree you're a fag.

i like drop system now that i got my first hat - fancy fedora
I hate the drop system.
The only hats I've gotten are the Halloween ones from hard work off the achievements.
drop system is good when it goes in your favour as it has been for me! :D
Bonk is not useless you just don't know how to use it.
Valve always fixes and breaks stuff at the same time. Why break a tradition?
I read the title, and all I could think about was Valve kicking us in the face with their energy legs.
Babies! So many babies! FOUR HUNDRED BABIES.
I had the same thought.
I don't hate the drop system, just, think in some cases is a bad idea.
I personally think the Scout update was perfect (don't fuck with it), the Spy/Sniper update was epicly awesome, and the Classless update was severely needed. The FaN does indeed take skill, I kind of fail at using it (though I prefer the Scattergun, it's easier for me), the Bonk is very useful for decoy Scouts, and the Sandman is good only in trained hands (itt: if you can't use it, don't). The Sniper update brought variety with the choice of gun/projectile, Spy update brought choice of immediate cloak/feigning death. The Classless update brought new gameplay aspects, plus KOTH amazingness. And the most recent Halloween update brought an amazing community map, Harvest, official. I think TF2 has amazing updates by the devs, and they should just continue doing this.
And holy shit people are complaining about too many updates what the fuck. Also, I don't mind the drop system.
I'd just like to point out to anyone just stumbling across this post-bump that this was written back during Idlegate. Since then, updates have slown down significantly and I do feel that the game has benefited from the extra time in the oven; the Halloween update has easily been my favorite one so far.
Also,

The complaint isn't that there are too many updates. The complaint is that the updates frequently have very obvious bugs that should have been fixed before release, have balance issues, or are incomplete (the drop system); the proposed solution is to have each update spend more time in the incubator.
The drop system isn't inherently flawed, but it is poorly implemented. It's frustrating because you can't work towards what you want; you have to hope you get lucky, and that could take years.
If someone doesn't know about the drop system they obviously don't play enough to actually receive anything from it.
I fucking loved the little TF2 halloween update.
Since then I'm playing again and I like the spooky atmosphere :buddy:

Oh and I wonder what christmas will bring us.
Santa and Elf hats. And snowy maps with ice men
Valve always fixes and breaks stuff at the same time. Why break a tradition?
Because Valve broke it
Damn
I feel lazy to read it all
Can someone tell me what's it about?

I have been playing since a week or so after the pyro update. I know what I'm talking about when I say achievements are a way better idea than lucky dip (DING DING DING! YOU FOUND A KRITZ!).

Achievement farming or idle servers. People are lazy :c
I actually liked the drop system before they added milestones

:v:
I personally like the random drop system. I get to earn all of my weapons, and I like that. The hats are unimportant, and when you finally get them, you feel awesome.
I still miss my Texas Ten Gallon, though.

I don't feel a sense of earning in a lottery. You earn something through commitment, and the sense of rewarding commitment is downtrodden by newer players getting hats while unluckier and more experienced players have none.
Personally, I think the hats should be a reward for the harder class achievements, such as the 2004 Scout kills or the 1 Million medic heals.
people only complain because they can't get what they want.
personally, it really separates cry babies from the mature people

That would be good if they could somehow stop people from using the achievement unlocker.
Although they'd just farm for them...
Yeah it's alright, only for cosmetic item through.
Tactical advantages of a hat:
1. Covers the head making it a bit more (however small) difficult for Snipers to get the headshot.
2. Spy-disguises do not emulate the hat your disguise-victim wears.
3. Are unlocks still tied to achievements? I thought it got separated. In Battlefield 2, they disallowed unlocks in competitive-play because it was similar in that not everyone was on a level playing field for unlocks. (You got to unlock a new one after you attained the next rank which required points and the global-points-requirement grew geometrically.)

Ha, Google Quote of the Day: "Tradition is what you resort to when you don't have the time or the money to do it right.

No, seriously, take a step back and consider how fitting that is. Serendipitous.
