fiskie why is no one offering on my trades make them offer on my trades
Let's have all trade pages redirect to your profile so people will be forced to make offers on your trades. Problem solved.
Let's have all trade pages redirect to your profile so people will be forced to make offers on your trades. Problem solved.
Fucking genius.
fiskie why is no one offering on my trades make them offer on my trades
Maybe you're offering an unfair deal?
Let's have all trade pages redirect to your profile so people will be forced to make offers on your trades. Problem solved.
Good ideas 2012
Maybe you're offering an unfair deal?
That was actually an ironic post. I know the reason people aren't offering. It still has a small userbase and many of the people who frequent it deal with high-dollar trades, such as unusuals or multi-bud trades. I'm trying to sell a couple of stranges and strange parts. I'm selling below both spreadsheet and backpack.tf prices as well so I'd hope even Outpost would consider that fair.

Just keep browsing to keep your trades bumped up and tell your friends about us - we've only had, what, 5,476 logged-in users at time of writing - there's a lot of people who have not heard about us at all. Friends will tell friends will tell friends will tell friends - you get the idea.
Why isn't Bazaar linked in Steam Rep's page yet
http://forums.steamrep.com/threads/tf2bazaar.7154/
Accell or Fiskie needs to poke Helen about it more.
Accell or Fiskie needs to poke Helen about it more.
Helen doesn't make those kind of decisions.
Why isn't Bazaar linked in Steam Rep's page yet
SteamRep is painfully slow when it comes to doing actual site work. It took them a very long time to get a, code-wise, extremely simple web API up and running - mostly because of, I quote, "philosophical issues", so they were very wary of releasing already public data in an API form. It was released a few days ago, though. Our application has been there since July 9. Maybe next month... year.
Helen doesn't make those kind of decisions.
She can get things moving though...
She can get things moving though...
Only if you keep asking her, but it's still been over a month, it's pretty ridiculous. 5 weeks wait for a banner on their site's index page.
Wow, Fiskie, that is really rude. :( Because of our status in the community and because we support Valve's tags we have to be VERY careful about communities we put on our front page. This means that we review every application very carefully. I am sorry that you don't appreciate our responsibility to the community, but we do. :( Also, my husband is the developer of the Web API and he has a real-life job. SteamRep is his hobby, NOT his job. He has been on business trip after business trip for his real-life job this summer and just simply has not had the time. So before you start bashing us and how long it takes to get things done, please consider that some of our VOLUNTEERS have real-life obligations that they must attend to first.
please consider that some of our VOLUNTEERS have real-life obligations that they must attend to first.
And this sort of thing would be avoided if you actually took the time to make your community much, much less closed minded than it is. Me and quite a few other community admins are saying this - your higher ups seem completely isolated to everybody else. If you don't want to get complained at for taking so long to do things, then you should be more transparent to your users. The fact that it took you months to release what is simply a shell of your site output in SimpleXML and json_encode, which is much needed, is quite frankly laughable. This is a five-minute job. Why isn't someone else doing this? Why haven't you hired other staff to watch over the site and update the many problems that exist with it? If it's because you don't trust people, that's the thing - you, as a community, seem too paranoid to move out of the position you are in. What broke one straw was a particular thread on the beta API forum where a very good idea was shunned just because of trust issues. Do you not think I, and quite a few others, do not have a right to be pissed off? I just have the urge to speak my feelings.
Man, you have some points but the way you're saying them makes you look like an even bigger asshole than before.

I am constantly on Steam and answering questions. We have forums where users can ask specific admins directly. All of our business is wide open to ANYONE to see on the forums. I'm not sure which admins you're talking about who are disconnected but all of our CURRENT admins are traders themselves and speak directly to not only other community admins but to many members of the community on a regular basis. Which community admins are you talking about? Have they even bothered to ever speak to me? Have they bothered to ever post on the forums? I talk to people all the time on there. Please give solid examples backed up with evidence so I can address them directly. Otherwise, it is just you talking and not being constructive. I volunteer more than 60 hours a week to SteamRep. We don't HIRE anyone. People volunteer. We have three coders who VOLUNTEER their time to work on SteamRep and who are helping the site- all whom have families, RL jobs, and RL obligations as well. Jameless has also done quite a bit of work on the API as well. The API was offered as a free courtesy service to community sites to help those work better and which does not help us except to help community sites keep scammers from their respective communities.
Have you approached Valve about opening up their databases to you? If not, I suggest you do so and see exactly how far you get with that. Even though we are a non-profit organization that doesn't even have any sort of officially binding organization or company attached to us, we have to be aware of legal issues. We do not own the Steam service, nor do you. Valve Corporation does. At any moment, as one particular site experienced, they can shut you down. They have done it before, and they can do it again. Many sites put their trust in us. Thousands of trade servers put their trust in us. Our goal is to be one of the cornerstones of reputation in the Steam Trading community. Trust is the absolute foundation of what we do. We HAVE to be critical, we HAVE to be discerning. We have many sites and site administrators DEPENDING on us to be so.
Do you not think I, and quite a few others, do not have a right to be pissed off? I just have the urge to speak my feelings.
We continue to work every day on addressing issues and helping communities make Steam trading safer. We will make a note of your feedback and continue to work on issues which are brought to our attention. It helps, however, if they are brought to us directly and not posted on another website.
http://forums.steamrep.com/threads/alternative-to-querying-individual-reputation.8573/ Here, I see nothing more than paranoia. It is not the problem with your admins, it's the problem with who is in charge. I never said it was do do with individual admins.
I am afraid you are mistaken. No one at SteamRep is hired.
I meant to say volunteered, because it's literally the same thing in my case - I would have done it for you if you would have trusted me. Regarding APIs - I don't want to insult your intelligence, but it is /not/ hard to write an API. Like I said, the tools for this come included with PHP. In fact, this is my API for message queries, which I made on request as someone wanted one for a plugin they wanted to write (my variable names are a little odd, but oh well):
$messageUsers = array(); foreach($user['messageUsers'] as &$messageUser) { array_push($messageUsers,$messageUser['steam']); } echo json_encode(array('status' => 'success', 'message_count' => count($user['messages']), 'messages' => $user['messages'], 'message_users' => $messageUsers));
If it takes you 3 people to make something like that over several months, I am deeply confused.
They HAVE opened up their databases - far, far more than SteamRep has. I don't know what your argument is here, unless you're saying I should ask them to open up their payment logs or something else, which is absolutely absurd.
Many sites put their trust in us. If you needed coders to help with your site, why have you not asked one of your many admins and affiliated community staff? They have all coded websites and you obviously put your trust into them, so why are you not asking them to do very simple things for you? I'll say it again, your paranoia is getting the best of you. A bigger problem is that the only way I have even managed to get your attention is to slander you.
Fiskie-- thanks again for your feedback. We're sorry you don't understand the situation and hope it becomes clearer as time goes on. I'm not sure what it is you're trying to prove, but it comes across as wholly ungrateful and disrespectful. No other communities owe anything to you and they're not going to bend over backwards to help someone who acts unprofessionally and unpleasantly. Accel has been quite respectful and pleasant in his requests of communities like SteamRep. If you follow his lead, your community will grow a great deal. I'm a huge fan of seeing more trading sites flourish-- so I wish TF2Bazaar the best of luck despite our differences.
Fiskie-- thanks again for your feedback. We're sorry you don't understand the situation and hope it becomes clearer as time goes on.
Please enlighten me as to why I "don't understand the situation". What am I missing? Edit: It seems you're just trying to dismiss my arguments altogether and pit me in the wrong. If this isn't the case, then add me and we will discuss properly.

It feels like Bazaar might be getting a middle class. I mean, seeing purple all over the front page is cool and all, but having someone buy your stuff is even cooler.
Is there an option on any trading site yet to only see Dota 2 trades?
Is there an option on any trading site yet to only see Dota 2 trades?
Bazaar and outpost both have options for this.
I like the built-in forum idea. People should totally know about it by me bumping the thread talking about it.
I like the built-in forum idea. People should totally know about it by me bumping the thread talking about it.
Yeah, it's a really great feature to have. Can't wait to see what's coming later on
How active is this marketplace now? I've offered a Botkiller Sniper Rifle and was surprised to not have many offers. I'll take anything really.
So apparently Fiskie and Accell forgot Facepunch exists :v: 2.0 is out: http://bazaar.tf/pages/abetterbazaar
