I'm hoping that it at least gets some kind of situational downside to go with it, because that advantage seems situational. Maybe like a higher explosive vulnerability?
"Shoot the rockets down or you will get FUCKED." Or a completely unrelated 25% Fire damage vulnerability and -30% damage towards players?
what's happened today?
A bunch of people who entered the thread late asking what happened. Oh, and speculation. That's about it. :v:
I love how the soldier has been holding onto the photos for almost five years.
maybe i'm late but...: beta style rocket launcher: [thumb]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/26839256/screenshot/beta%20rocket%20launcher.jpg[/thumb] and this: [thumb]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/26839256/screenshot/gourde%20du%20soldier.jpg[/thumb] if you've got a good sight, you can see that: on the soldier
What does Mersamus have against mannco?
soldier please tell me i'm not late
"Shoot the rockets down or you will get FUCKED." Or a completely unrelated 25% Fire damage vulnerability and -30% damage towards players?
Exactly! Though, I would not want to see unrelated downsides. [sp]Knowing Valve, they'll probably do that.[/sp]
What does Mersamus have against mannco?
Soldier enemy, he would team up with the other bad guys cuz of that, ya know, "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" sort of thing uhhh, horrible pageking....lets fix that
For the sake of our sanity, it'll probably be a projectile-based boss. Otherwise we would have to deal with melee that is larger than our entire bodies, which is ridiculous. He'll shoot missiles from his nipples and rockets from his chest hair and lasers from his biceps. We're doomed.
It'll punch missiles. He'll launch Yetis from his chest. He's the ultimate weapon!
"Shoot the rockets down or you will get FUCKED." Or a completely unrelated 25% Fire damage vulnerability and -30% damage towards players?
If it's reflectable, pyros who practice will finally have their day.
Look at all those Eggman's Robots!
That game was actually pretty good, Aside from all the horrible dialogue, the gameplay was fun and the level design worked well.
I was really hoping it would be giant rocket nukes or something. Rocket machine gun? That SOUNDS weird.
I got really excited for this update because I figured it was going to be 32 person co-op and then people would play on 2f2f again. :(
Having nothing but koth_king play did bring in some Quickplay traffic. I think we're gonna be able to host a few MvM servers, so don't worry.
It's not like they are sold out and I think you will have a decent window of time to order tomorrow if the floating unicorn is any indication (I'm forgetting the name, excuse my brain fart). In fact, en ex, (I've posted this before) yesterday when the bird doll page went live I just added it to my cart and left the computer for a couple of hours. When I came back and started reading about the page being closed, it turned out I could still order as long as you have it in cart (I ordered 2 extras for my friends since you can add any amount).
Balloonicorn. And thanks for the hopeful words! Yeah, I'm anticipating it being released properly this week. I just want my bloody dovey.
I was really hoping it would be giant rocket nukes or something. Rocket machine gun? That SOUNDS weird.
I think they are using hyperbole. They are still giant nukes, they just shoot so fast it's like a machine gun...that shoots rockets :P
I love how the soldier has been holding onto the photos for almost five years.
Well, 7 months is a week in TF2, and this update is three years in the future, and Meet the Spy was May 2009, do some incorrect math and it's probably like three years and 5-6 weeks.
Exactly! Though, I would not want to see unrelated downsides. Knowing Valve, they'll probably do that.
No random crits :v:
No random crits :v:
I'm really sick of that fucking joke.
Talking about download rates, I find that picking countries where you wouldn't expect a lot of TF2 players works well (as long as it's not too far heh). I haven't yet tried to pick areas like Stockholm, Moscow etc, due to the higher chance that those people play TF2 than say Malaysia or the Philippines (I am situated in the US). An interesting experiment would be to have a sizable bandwidth as well as many different instances of Steam (probably better with having Steam on separate computers rather than multiple instances in one computer) with download servers from different countries and compare speeds. Finding that perfect balance of proximity vs number of people currently downloading would be cool.
Yeah, I've been thinking of a cluster similar to that too. It'd have several purposes: 1. Early warning of updates when there is no early warning 2. What you suggested 3. Other sciencey things I've got a project in the works which may include just this, but it likely won't come until 2013 or early 2014 at the latest.
That game was actually pretty good, Aside from all the horrible dialogue, the gameplay was fun and the level design worked well.
Their aesthetics harken closer to what the mercs would be like if they were roboticized.
I wonder if the Machines will have a damage system like Monoculus, like that the damage done doesn't suffer from range.
Do we know what the 1961 in the secret Foundry room represented?
I wonder if the Machines will have a damage system like Monoculus, like that the damage done doesn't suffer from range.
I remember almost a year ago the TF2 beta did a little experiment multiplying x3 everyones health, maybe it was a testrun for this?
Do we know what the 1961 in the secret Foundry room represented?
I think the date below it was translated to "MVM".
I think the date below it was translated to "MVM".
I know, but what did 1961 mean?
Apologies for the dumb joke. It was the first thing to pop into my head, and it should've stayed there. I know you guys have heard that way too much lately.
I know, but what did 1961 mean?
The year part of the translation.
Apologies for the dumb joke. It was the first thing to pop into my head, and it should've stayed there. I know you guys have heard that way too much lately.
I don't get it, but explaining it would probably cause everyone to immediately shoot themselves. :3c
How did we know it was robots the whole time?
How did we know it was robots the whole time?
A fuckton of hints saying ROBOT and robot heads.
A fuckton of hints saying ROBOT and robot heads.
TOBOR* It said Tobor, actually.
some people were shouting robots
