There's a difference between being realistic and very horribly missing an obvious piece of sarcasm.
I doubt Valve actually underestimated the community. They were probably expecting us to solve it within a few hours and were paying fake complements in the blogpost. Valve knows their fanbase too well to be surprised by anything. The Pyromania ARG, The $100 ring, The $100 Japan donation hat, Raising over 500k for Japan charity. The reason Valve did all of these things is because they know their community. I think they have the update ready.

If they've done a multi-day reveal before every other major update, what reason do they have to not make this a 7-day long multi-reveal if they want to? Day 1, etc, and then on the last day, TF2 updates and is unplayable for the following day :B
