When the Demo has a shotgun (And the scout, even though he has the scattergun in the video he had the shotgun), I doubt it was "Demoman can use a shotgun now!" as much as it was just convenience. I mean, I doubt that it's literally impossible for the demo to use a shotgun, so in the video it makes sense. But I don't think he can use a shotty ingame.

In the interest of continued speculation, Archimedes seems to play a role given Valve had that blood-stained plush in the store of him, and he shows up somewhat prominently in the trailer.
What do you think he'll do? Just a mere cosmetic item that flies behind your head all the time kinda like the balloonicorn? Given the nature of the Balloonicorn promo thing... maybe I just answered my own question, well shoot.

So if they do indeed introduce Archimedes into the mix, I think it'd be neat if he actually served a purpose instead of just a misc, at least in MvM. Acts as an upgrade and, when released, he "scouts" the area and alerts the mercs to incoming waves or the identities of the incoming bots or something.
