• How can I attract more people to my server?

I'm saying that the Dunning-Kruger effect can be shown several times throughout this thread, especially with statements like "i could play competitively easily but I just don't want to" (that's a generalization but..) Your post was a great example.
you're putting words in my mouth I never said that I said I think it's stupid
Go play on a 24/7 2fort server and then go play on a 'CP maps only' server with crits disabled, and tell me you can't notice a different in the average skill levels and maturity of the players on them. That was my initial inspiration.
This is why you were ripped to the shit, and the fact you wouldn't even post the IP on facepunch, then you have the balls to call other people ignorant, this reaks of a troll thread, you don't have to take the advice on no crits but i'd suggest atleast putting damage spread on so the game isn't competely broken, because you might aswell just setup a new pro mod which sets everyone's hp to 1, breaking the game might make it harder to play, doesn't mean your better then those playing a game with the full features, people who are bad at the game shouldn't even be bothering you, because its not hard to avoid a crit anyway, but seriously good luck finding that competitive/alltalk/anti-fun server, because the very essence of team fortress 2 is the silly "over the topness" just look at the story for godsake.
I'll tell you something to not do. Don't make it so your server always says "31/32 Players" even though noone is on there. Annoying as hell.
Removing luck-based elements does make the game more skill-oriented and teamwork-oriented.
Crits, despite seeming completely random, are actually based on previous damage-dealt.
Ok Jebus, new plan, don't post on Facepunch about competitive TF2. People crying about not playing the game as it was made isn't helping you at all. Hope your server fills up!

Besides, as I said, any Aussies can PM me for the IP. It's not a troll thread, I honestly had no idea FP had so many members like that haha. But no, random damage spread doesn't break the game. But generally, better players do prefer these settings. That's pretty common knowledge. The average player doesn't annoy me (except when they get really vocal like in this thread haha). I'm not making this server to exlude average players, they're very welcome if they want to expand their horizons. I'm making it to include more competetively-oriented players. Simple really. Besides, I'm not looking for a server of that description, I'm making one. Did you read the thread at all?
I'll tell you something to not do.
I think every TF2 player probably knows that by now But yeah read the thread we've discussed all this
Ok Jebus, new plan, don't post on Facepunch about competitive TF2. You should honestly just give up on this thread, you've already gotten the best answer you're going to get and the rest of this is going to turn into "turn on crits and damage spread you clan/comp/seriousfag". In the end, the reason you're getting very little traffic is the fact that you've limited your desired audience to such a small amount of players that you're just going to have to find the people you want instead of letting them trickle to you. Go advertise on serious and/or competitive TF2 forums that you have a server for the oft-overlooked Aussies.
Yeah, I know. I realised that after I got my first serious response and one shat up page of the thread.
