Unsure if this exactly belongs here, but you guys give me the best feedback so :v:.
Athernar, Pilk, and I have updated TF2B with paint splotch icons like the ones in-game. If you have painted items in your backpack, I'd appreciate reports of any bugs you encounter.

How about making it so paint cans display the correct colors?

There were Texans at the south side,
Russians to his left,
An Aussie with a sniper rifle aimed at his head,
Brains over brawn, that might work for you,
but what's a Boston street kid to do?

ps Go Bruins! <3
Can you get coloured paint support? >_>
Yes, soon. Ath went to bed, so probably tomorrow. Hey, at least we beat TF2Items to identifiable painted hats! :toot:

586 on the mask
164 for the stick, and you may say that's extreme and it is... but it was the only way I could get it to look right imho.

That's cool and all...but I want your skateboard!
Yeah, so do I. Why don't you ask Sparkwire why he won't do the animations for it after he promised he would?

Oh yeah, also...

Less post-per-step, more ALL AT ONCE IN OUR FACE, please, sir, thank you, good night.
Um...
Okay.
It's done, dude, just needs to be in game now.
compile it :argh:
where are the paint splatter things found?
Crates and drops, or you can buy them. The usual methods.
rated bad readin- wait where is it?
and i was talking about the paint splatter on painted items, not the item itself.
In that case I have no idea what you're asking.

There's a paint splatter in the top right corner of my Tyrant's Helm and V V Merryweather, on page 3?
yeah, i'm asking where are they located in the gcf?
yeah, i'm asking where are they located in the gcf?
i tried opening them in photoshop and it's just a white square.
Edit: Nvm! Just had to mess with channels. Thanks!

You didn't extract the alpha mask.
Thanks, but Andru already offered me a direct hit, so ill just wait until tomorrow. You can test it if you'd like though
Sent you a friend invite, also a trade request but I suppose you're idling, just contact me when you're on and the DH is yours
Could I get the sniper arms and smg .blend files? I'm trying out some animation and I've got no idea how to decompile them properly.
Shugo, is there a possibility of having an icon of a painted item instead of icon of regular item + paint splotch?
Shugo, is there a possibility of having an icon of a painted item instead of icon of regular item + paint splotch?
In-game: No.
On TF2B: Yes. And I'm maybe going to do this eventually. It's going to be a ridiculous amount of icons to make for that, so don't expect it any time too soon.
By the way, I'm making hat icons right now. These hats just don't look the same anymore... Why you do this, Valve? :frown:
*snip, what have I done*
-snip-
Super :ninja:'d
Hurr hey team lets put in a dr seuss hat that's funny durr
I like some of the new hats but I think Shugo is referring to the way Valve fucked up the textures of pretty much all the hats with the paint system.
Oh I thought he meant the ridiculous hats like the Dr. Suess hat and the Umbrella hat. :geno:

This. The lighting is really bad or just incredibly basic on some hats now, at least in Model Viewer. I'm even using IdleTard's fixed VMTs and they still just aren't as good as the original hats.
But in regards to the newer hats, I like pretty much all of the new hats and I think it's a pretty good batch. They're cosmetic items anyway and we have trading now, so if you don't like a hat then trade it off for one you do like.
You can replicate what the painting does to a texture in photoshop:
1. Select alpha layer (ctrl click layer icon). This will turn the alpha layer into a selection.
2. Make a new layer and press alt backspace (paint it foreground colour, colour doesn't matter).
3. On the new layer, apply a "color overlay" layer effect, replace the colour with different values found on http://wiki.teamfortress.com/wiki/Template:Painted_variants/Tutorial to preview what each paint does to the texture.
To view the default paint (unpainted), open the .vmt corresponding to the texture, there should be a line like ""$colortint_base" "{174 56 56}"". The numbers between the brackets are the RGB values of the colour the hat will be painted if it's not painted (durr), if you use this colour in the color overlay, you can see why the hats have lost so much detail.
