Also, I got the bottles into the map as ammo and (hopefully) fixed the spawns acting weird.
Here are some things I have to do before i can release a beta:
-fix the crates not taking damage from most weapons(only shotguns and explosives can break them).
-fix the pool water not extinguishing burning players.
-change spawns around to reduce the ability to spawn camp (possibly a blue boat as mentioned earlier?).
-fix the tree leaves sounding like wood when walked on.
-color the tops of the big water tank and flag pole gold.
-make a cheap version of the ocean water texture because it causes major glitches on dx8.

Delfino plaza might be a bit too much work though I reckon, although I too would enjoy it.
Oh wow, this is some amazing work. Sunshine has a lot of potential for TF2, too, for every gamemode I can think of, official or not.
I can't wait to play this map, Sunshine is one of my favorite games and probably the best Mario game I remember.
Hotel Delfino could make a good koth_ map. The outside at least. The casino also has potential, especially for Monoculus :v:

I just read as part of a recent Tf2 update they updatd something involving dx8 water, does this tie into your problem regarding that?

The water is the only real problem that arises though, aside from the boat textures looking a little muddy.
If I knew anything whatsoever about mapping, I would go to wherever your house is and help you.

What's your process for converting the levels? Are you importing the terrain from the levels into hammer and converting all the buildings and props into models and manually placing them in the map?
Maybe if you post how you do this you might be able to have other people do other maps along side yours, maybe sharing resources such as the converted textures, ect.
I've more or less fixed the refraction problems in dx8 but now the skybox water turns black.:suicide:

I made a post in the map pimpage thread awhile ago about how I am porting the levels.

I'll be releasing the vmf and content once the map is more or less finished because some of the models/textures still need to be tweaked a bit.
It's been years since I've done any model work, but it seems to be an annual thing for me to use my summer time working on a map of some sort.
Tomorrow I may attempt some of the first steps and analyze if it would be feasible to do a map or so. I would love to try delfino plaza.
Assuming I can do that, I would probably just port the coins and use them as minor health kits, put trigger_push jump pads on the bouncy roofs and maybe some "rocket nozzle" jump pads as well.
As far as making the map less taxing, I would probably just block off areas with invisible walls and make the areas outside of that be visible on the exterior surface and no collision.
If at all possible, it would be great if we could share resources, such as converted textures for the water, however if it came to it, I could just manually extract and convert it, but if multiple maps were to be released, it would be more apealing for them to be consistent in scale and texture.
