speaking about achievement items How much metal would give me all of the weapons unlocked via achivements?
If you could sell them for a scrap each, you'd get double of what you'd get by crafting. :v:
It is.
What do you suggest to do to stop script users then? or do you think it's fair for people to automate things like that?
What do you suggest to do to stop script users then? or do you think it's fair for people to automate things like that?
Have Valve use some kind of script prevention system instead of a human test. I don't want a fucking CAPTCHA every time I buy an item.

There could be things that could even get around CAPTCHAs, so it's getting kinda hard.
For example?
I'm pretty sure you can do it with javascript.
i'm pretty sure that it's not that hard to cheat the script detection. if they implemented captchas every few purchases that would be cool. They can just lock people out if they try too much. My friend and I were arguing about if the virtual copies of TF2 (the ones that are in steam inventories) should be expensive in the future, when they lack. We went on for about 40 minutes or so arguing why it is or will be expensive, if the result is the same as a premium upgrade in the mann co store. I told him that is not the result that matters, but the lack of the way it's delievered. What do you guys think?
I'm off to bed. Happy chatting everyone and good night.
For example?
Give everyone the ability to "script" it. AKA, let people set custom buying prices, but they aren't displayed public or anything. List down that you want to buy 10 keys for $1 each. Valve instantly holds your money+the "taxes" for it. Once someone sells a key for a $1 or less, it will be given to whoever put up an offer of that much (randomly choosing from the pool of people who bidded if more than one person has a bid on that price). Really, I see no problems with this system above. It's pretty much 100% fair for everyone. Sellers are able to sell their stuff away quickly, and buyers are able to buy without needing to fight in a line for a good deal. Only "disadvantage" would be a more stable market and deflation, since people won't be thinking "Hm, should I buy this key right now for $1.80, or hope someone puts a key down for $1.70 and I snap it up?". Instead of trying to stop bots (which is pretty much impossible - people will always find ways to fuck the system), you should focus more on solving the issue of why someone would bot it in the first place. Reason being, for most people, to snag the best deals; the above proposal being a possible solution.

Have fun waiting 10 years to get just 1 key.
Anyone know the name of that hard as shit LttP ROMHack? I think NintendoCaprisun played it, but all I really remember is that if you got the starter boomerang, you couldn't get the upgraded one later.
lolololol. that guy was desperate for a key. jeez.
Yeah but a million+ people would be using it. Have fun waiting 10 years to get just 1 key.
I don't really understand how you came to that conclusion of it taking so long? The system can have a preference on people who use the new system instead of the old list, by checking current bids (and selling to them if a match happens) before displaying that as a selling offer. In addition, those who offer a higher bid have a higher chance of being sold to (Valve can decide if the extra money paid either returns to the seller, or if the buyer receives it). If you want a key quicker, you simply bid >= someone else's, else you play the waiting game for a bit. The market isn't that slow. Actually, the more people using this proposed system the better. People buying from the current list instead of using the bidding system will probably need to pay a bit more, as the bidders on the "new system" would probably already have an offer that's higher than what the list bots would be configured to grab at. This would give an even less incentive to bot the offers. The bid amounts and prices could actually be public, but in a smoothed line graph format. Easy way to see what a good bid would be, and let people adjust their bidding according to the market trends. Letting the community decide what a good offer is, and compete with the prices. (FYI I don't see anyone rigging this either, unless they're rich as fuck, since they would be wasting -a lot- of money to do so. A selling ceiling would also prevent that if it ever became a problem.) I honestly see no problems with a system like this, other than what I said above about potentially more marketer hesitation. Dunno why TentuZero boxes me and doesn't give any feedback about my proposed system; idc what people rate, but I prefer when people actually challenge my ideas on stuff instead of being ignorant... also sorry if this is too serious of a discussion for chat thread.
Are we really arguing over Steam's latest way to sell virtual hats of stupidity
