I require opinions. I currently have what I thinks an Nvidia GeForce Gt220. I cant check because Im lazy and the computer is refusing to detect it, hence why Im getting a new one. The new one Ill be getting is an ATI Radeon HD 4870. Now, for someone like me who knows shit all about computers, is the new one significantly better?

The 4870 is a 3 generations old, high-end ATi card. It was my old card, and I can tell you concretely it is no longer up to scratch for newer games. It will be miles ahead of that 220 though.

What I find amusing of my video card problem is it overheat even in old 3D games. I bought a 9500gt just because I don't care about the AA and other FPS killers stuff. But games like Empire Earth II or Unreal Tournament 2004 will overheat and then go with a BSOD not even 5 minutes after starting a match. In TF2, it happens often, but at least I can alt+tab. Sometimes directly I get a BSOD.
