Right off the bat, different styles usually are just done by including multiple downloads for the mod. As for painting, it is achieved by a few snipits in the VMT code along with the alpha map and texture.
"$yellow" "0"
"$blendtintbybasealpha" "1"
"$colortint_base" "{xxx xxx xxx}"
"$colortint_tmp" "[0 0 0]"
Edit the colortint_base area to the RGB code for the color you want it to be naturally, and under the Proxies you will need to add:
"Equals"
{
"srcVar1" "$yellow"
"resultVar" "$color2"
}
"ItemTintColor"
{
"resultVar" "$colortint_tmp"
}
"SelectFirstIfNonZero"
{
"srcVar1" "$colortint_tmp"
"srcVar2" "$colortint_base"
"resultVar" "$color2"
}
As for your alpha map and texture, make the area you want to be paintable white, and have it be opaque with the rest of the texture transparent so it is not affected.
Hmm okay, so basically I'll have to compile multiple models if I want to add multiple styles ?
And for the paint, I'll have to change the VMT code, that's okay, but what if my item already uses an alpha map ? (What I mean it that I used the alpha map to create holes in the model).
Better?
Anyway, it would be sorta cool of the vague idea I'm working on could contain a cigarette, but on the other hand it feels a bit bandwagon-y to give the Scout a tobacco-smoking item since the Soldier, Demoman, Medic and Sniper received theirs. What is the emporium's opinion on the issue. Agree for 'Smoking is totally cool, dude', and disagree for 'Don't do drugs, kids'.
Ages ago I had the idea of giving him a bubble pipe

So you get another smoking related misc minus actual smoking.

But it's not smoking misc in general, it's a specific misc idea that happens to incorporate smoking. It may or may not be this.

Actually, it only may not. It's not that. But wouldn't it be cool if it was?

Deodorant is such a nice guy. He should write comics or something, he has a fantastic sense of humor.
I think we can all agree Deodorant is an awesome guy.

So basically this talented modeler guy here offered to model a Scout by my design, provided I come up with one. Fwee!

everybody should smoke, they're a bunch of action movie archetypes

Know what's a really good site for weapon references, IMFDB.
The only ones without smoking devices are Scout, Heavy and Engineer.
We all know Scout is 23, so there is no reason for him not to smoke.

Marxman has a cigar.
Does anyone have anything that I could texture? I'd like to gain some more experience.

Because he needs to keep his lungs in perfect condition for running.

so yeah add me on steam
Marxman has a cigar.
That is a all-class item. I'm talking about a class only cigar.
Because he needs to keep his lungs in perfect condition for running.
That is why he has a toy cigar or a pipe with nothing in it (he stole it from Medic).
So nobody is interested in making Player model in theme of Medieval?

I like the brighter wood better, it makes it more recognizable in color.

If you don't mind waiting a little bit, I'm not on my main computer yet but I wont be too long though.

there's some z-fighting on this model but the faces aren't intersecting at all, is this an issue with $additive?
also big ass pill bottle

export the z-fighting faces as their own model, and combine them in the qc, that usually solves z-fighting.
I like the brighter wood better, it makes it more recognizable in color.
Well everyone is saying the wood is horrible so we're in a bit of a dilemma.
what the best way to smooth things in 3ds max?
