So i'm losing faith.
All these [sp]awesome[/sp]contributors getting valve comments on their stuff is getting depressing. Looks like i'll never get anything ingame, the only comment I got was on the reanimator.... 1 year ago.
I'm not a Svdl, nor a Sparkwire, nor Larolaro. I'm not a ronin, nor a psyke, nor a constructor. And I'm not sure if I want to keep my hopes up going through the files looking for my stuff on every update. And now that Pie Tony is gone I don't even have a designed texturer.
I always try to fit the style, find original ideas like the pyro's mohawk, making use of the animations in a different and unexpected way, to add diversity to the game with what's already in it.
Then they add a cat for the engineer. It's like a middle finger to people actually trying to stay in the style of the game. That or broken stuff.
I have 5 items on the 5 first top rated all time page. So i guess my stuff is actually liked, but getting no official comments is really confusing. I'd like to have something to work on. Are my folders not right? Does it lacks source files? Is my stuff incompatible due to technical/aesthetic issues?
I won't say that modding is getting boring, it isn't. But it's the lack of recognition from valve on my work is making me feel like I'm doing something wrong, but I don't know why. I keep getting tons of good comments, tons of winners. But no "nah we don't want that because X".
So yeah, I'll probably do the scout pack i wanted to do, then I'll see. Will I quit after? I have no idea.

hey
fucking
stop that
all of you quit leaving
we are what is keeping tf2 alive, and if you keep up this trend of contributors leaving, then that's dumb as heck - you don't even have a good reason
no dev comments? so what, lots of items haven't gotten dev comments and have still been added to the game
i haven't gotten dev comments since xmas, but i'm not quitting. why? i enjoy doing this, getting valve comments and valve money is just the icing on the cake
don't stop
fuck
I think that every class should have a Smissmas" costume set, like Soldier's Santa, Scout's an Elf, Pyro's a reindeer, etc, but a full set, a hat, two miscs, a primary, a secondary, and a melee. Or at least the hat and two miscs, and a weapon, minus festive weapons, of course. The Scout and Soldier nearly have their Smissmas sets, just need a weapon(Soldier) and second misc(Scout).

As much as I'd love to have self-mades, and the additional money would help me out a lot.
You and Evil_knievel deserve selfmades much more than I do.

you took the words right out of my mouth.

Or go completely in the opposite direction, and have a a sentry whose outer shell is a Knight's helmet with a gun barrel poking out of the faceguard.
Once (if) I find out how to decompile and fix (end up giving up on) the Femgie, I'd probably make some item fixes for it too. (keeping the grordborts beard tho because who doesn't love a hairy woman)
(i don't)

There are over a thousand awesome TF2 items on the Workshop, and only like 1 out of a 1000 of them gets accepted. I think losing faith is understandable, in that case...

I think as soon as the new complier comes, more items will get ingame, cause they could look at it easier.
turns out the ".." part in the "../parts/dmx/" thing means "in the folder above"
I fixed it

I truly hope that is the case.
Even the weekly item would be nice at this point
So i'm losing faith.
Honestly, you have to keep your head up. Nidhogg and I were in the same boat. We'd made the Year of the Dragon set, the Robro, and some of the earlier shit like my shitty polycount pack, and since Valve even BEGAN taking contributions, it didn't show anything but a comment on the Wan Hu.
Everything that's happened since with the Dota and Triad pack were a direct result of us just going, whether or not we got something in-game.
It sucks just having your best work on the workshop for a long time and nothing's being done - I know it all too well - but you have to move on.

I know that feel. Even when I do my best on an item and I think it looks good and I do everything I can to make it presentable, I find it nearly impossible to get a significant number of votes or attention on anything. Yes I realize a lot of my stuff isnt that great, but I do try.
In reality the only shot at getting something in game right now is the lil reaper model. And I will probably get bashed for it because it was a collab with primrose even though it was before all that drama bullshit.
I dont even know if valve has taken ANY of my models into consideration, as I have never gotten a comment from them.

I think most of us have been there, and keep getting there. Just keep faith, and keep running man. If you need a texture artist, seek one! I'd gladly texture your stuff if that helps any.
Just don't give up, the more submissions you make, the more chance you have of them getting in.
:)
you guys should try sucking like me, makes it so much easier on you

though I can't at the moment.
I really wished Valve would add new types of Botkiller weapons, like Botkiller Shotgun and Pistol and Grenade Launcher and melee weapons and even some unlocks, like Force-a-Nature, Flare Gun, Wrangler, etc.
On the topic of MvM, here's a picture of a Medic chasing a Sentry Buster chasing an Engie.

Don't yell at the contributors for leaving--and fuck, don't take the route that some regs do and don't even yell at the contributors who DO get things in-game. Blame Valve. They keep extending opportunities to existing contributors time and again (promo opportunities usually) and keep returning to the same stack of contributors over and over, leaving out new, capable contributors for little reasoning beyond being lazy. I have noticed that Valve has become very conceited and lost the open community-contributed way they used to have about them. They have small little niches or groups they exploit or let themselves get spoon-fed from (I feel the community wiki is definitely among this). Don't misunderstand me though, I'm not trying to point fingers or single anybody else other than Valve themselves.

Awww, wasted my 200th post on that message :P
That model must be really high-poly, with all cylindrical parts and bevels.
