I should just redo some parts of this since I think only the Widowmaker is below 700 tris for it's lowest LoD and the L'Etranger isn't even below 1k. There's probably something fucked up in this since I didn't test them in-game yet so just let me know if you find something.
You can reduce a ton of those faces.

You can remove a load of unneeded vertices and merging them, then working on hugely removing a vast of unneeded polys, you don't need that much detail.
Ah, well fair enough. I suppose i'm just used to modelling for a really crap engine with the graphical capabilities of a horse. You have to get all the detail in with models alone. Old habits die hard i guess
It's a good habit to optimize your model regardless of which engine you're working on.

I realise there is no specific superior in this scenario but though people can't technically tell you what to do, they will still give it their best shot.
To those critiquing the quality; fair enough, but critiques made towards the concept should be made at the concept phase or at least a point in which any loss in resources resulting from starting over is negligible. Even then the complaints were pretty vague and unhelpful. It doesn't fit the TF2 art style? It's 'silly'? Well forgive me for being naive but what exactly is the TF2 art style when that encompasses the Ornament Armament, the Lollichop and the Apparition's Aspect? And before anybody so eagerly informs me that "You shouldn't use the mistakes of others to justify your own" would you mind explaining exactly what that mistake is in the first place because that would be something genuinely useful as opposed to writing off individual items as mistakes when they don't conform to what you think TF2 should look like as a whole - because, like it or not, Valve seems more than happy to take these sort of items onboard.
And when you say the concept of a model, game or pretty much anything else for which you might make concepts is unfit for it's purpose when said model has reached completion or at least entered it's final stages then you might as well delete the file. It's not like there is anything salvageable from it if it's core structure is deemed ill-suited.
First model I've made in months. :P

Is there a mod somewhere that replaces the Original's viewmodel with a normal viewmodel, like the other rocket launchers? I like the reference behind it, but it's been getting on my nerves lately.

There have been many cases that the concept looks pretty far from the item it turned out to be. Regardless, i was pointing out the great points of the item, which is being clever. I was saying that without seeing the aforementioned concepts.
I also mentioned before that it "kinda" didn't fit in light that its my "gut feeling". If i must elaborate, there are some sharp bevels that you dont normally see in the game. The hands of the alien could stand to be a just a 3 fingers or a bit heftier. The details on that part is too small for my taste.
I chose not to mention it earlier as i feel that im just being nitpicky at it. I think that not everything needs criticizing, not all criticism helps anyway.

I think using it as a hat is the better and easy option, unless you want to put it on the shoulder.

I have a idea for a pyro misc.
4 to 5 tendrils on pyros back.
