Hi guys! It's been a while since I last thought of making something for TF2. I spent some time making this misc for the medic. I'm fairly new to making stuff so I don't know if I'm modeling/texturing it the right way - it's still WIP so I have time to change it before I finally submit it to the workshop. Do let me know what you think and if it's worth continuing this.
It looks really, really tiny. I mean... Medic's glasses and his button right there are already really tiny in that game, but this watch is so tiny that none of the details inside of it will ever be visible to anyone trying to view it, unless possibly if they're standing right in front of Medic and using the sniper rifle to zoom in on it. [editline]23rd September 2012[/editline]
Would this be an okay size or should it be bigger still?
Better, but slightly bigger still I'd say.

I tried skinning it to Spine 1 and Spine 2 a while ago. It went.... okay. :\
That's really not very big at all v:v:v
Heh... how much bigger should I go? Like, 25 percent more?
Just wanna give you guys a head's up, he's already made his profile friends-only, but this guy: http://steamcommunity.com/id/Awesomeness95691/ Has been stealing mods and content from various Emporium goers and uploading it to the Steam Workshop, from people that post here like A_Guardian, BANG!, kenshin6, and others.

Bigger. Like maybe close to the size of Sniper's wristwatch, but probably a little bit smaller.
You need to make a literal butter knife to go with it, or an all-class butter lunchbox melee what have you. The expressions, the timing and the phrasings are subtle but unadulterated brilliance. Just FYI.
Hi guys! Make it a bunch bigger and workshop it, and it'll have my vote. I think it should be embiggened by at least 50% In unrelated news, I'm currently going through official crime reports from the City of Boston police dept for concept art-related reasons. Just thought I'd share.
Bigger. Like maybe close to the size of Sniper's wristwatch, but probably a little big smaller.
Thank you guys so much for pointing this out . I've measured it up and you were right, it could stand to use some exaggeration. I've enlarged it some more and here's the result - do you think it could be pushed still further? Thanks for the positive comments!
That's about right, looks much better now.

Perhaps exaggerate the symbols on the watch slightly to be more distinguishable. Think about it a bit like this... if you can't distinguish the symbols in your example image, then you probably can't distinguish them in game.
I have been ninja'd. I must now pay the price.

Which one do you guys like - the slightly larger medic logo or the Medic logo overlay on the entire watch face? I'm also thinking of adding a few drops of blood on the watch body - will test it out and show you the result when I'm done with it.
Guys can you help me? I have a problem with "black" texture. How to fix it? Yes. I edited the model a bit and moved to the center in 3Ds max (easier for me to do next objectives).

Maybe though, I'm uncertain. Get some feedback from other people too, I'm undecided. [editline]23rd September 2012[/editline] I do like the red outlining

Maybe if I desaturate the logo a bit and make it more faded, it should be dark enough to stand out without making it too flashy. Thanks for your thoughts, Simski!
make it a watch that goes on his wrist i would wear that ingame
Actually, yeah, this is a good idea. It wouldn't require scrapping more than the big bar-thing on top, it would prevent the item from being yet another damn medal that no one wants, and the classy detailing would be better visible in first person. Do this. Also, small cross was better than big cross IMO.
I'm curious if it would work well as a wrist watch though, considering medic's large rubber gloves
I'm curious if it would work well as a wrist watch though, considering medic's large rubber gloves
How about make a bigger watch? [t]http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m1urkaw9JP1qc07bbo1_500.jpg[/t] I think It's big enough.

Could someone make some Russian henchman dockworker items for Heavy? You know, like the kind of guys in movies that are patrolling the docks while transporting containers with illegal cargo and such?

The model itself is great, but for some reason the position in Medic's chest doesn't feel right. Perhaps try moving it a bit to the left? Or place the watch on his pocket, wouldn't that make more sense?
I'm curious if it would work well as a wrist watch though, considering medic's large rubber gloves
This shouldn't be a problem for me to do although it'd take a while (the links are reusable, though I will need to alter the watch body and consequently, the UV's). I had a few questions regarding how it should be made though which I was hoping someone would help me out on: 1. I notice the spy's watches don't go all the way around, so would the medic's be done the same way as well? I'm only concerned about the polycount climbing because of the repeated links. 2. I'm fairly new to this, but is it possible for miscs such as these to be made visible in first person view as well? If so, is there a guide somewhere on how to do this?
Also, small cross was better than big cross IMO.
I decided to have a compromised between the two, retaining the red circular outline from the Larger cross and having a very faint washed out watermark of the large medic logo across the watchface, but retaining the small medic cross at the bottom. I'm currently in the process of testing out some blood spatters to see how it looks, so it should be ready to show once I've finished. I'll be keeping this old nurse's watch model aside once I've finished polishing out the look and texture before I cobble it together for the doctor's watch version. Stay tuned, and once again, thank you all so much for the great feedback and the awesome suggestions. :)
A problem with comparing it with Spy's watch is that Spy's watch is not visible in world view (I think)

I have now learned a new use to living in MA. I can correct the references of scout item concept items.
